Remember When I Said There'd Be No BG4?
And not because Larian is done with WotC/Hasbro, but because generative AI is advancing so quickly that before Larian could ever publish their next game, we'd be generating our own using AI.

Here's what you can do with OAI's latest model, o1:

What is?

You can literally use everything I'm talking about.

Go use Kling to animate a still photograph, or NotebookLM to generate a podcast from a txt document OR a YT video with a transcript.

Text-to-game already works for very simple games, and text-to-interactive 3D world is being rapidly developed.

Basically what I'm pointing out is that text-to-everything is coming soon, especially games.

Now, how long did it take for Larian to develop BG3? Six years? Seven years?

If you understand how the rate of progress in these things works (it's exponential) we will have text-to-3D games next year. Far too soon for Larian to develop another game.

Nauseating. This fad, just like the NFT scams techbros tried to force on us just before this one. can't crash & burn fast enough,
You can come to the conclusion that AI isn't just a fad by looking at just how much money leading tech companies are throwing into developing their AI tech
Yeah because techbros have never created a bubble of over-enthusiasm around emerging technologies before

AI will be good for anything that can be automized, factory processed, Ubisofted. It may even be able to knock out quite a decent run of the mill D&D adventure -- of the kind your average dungeon master or NWN / Solasta module maker blasts them out worldwide -- including the makers of the fairly standard original campaigns of those games.

Can it understand the inherent drama and deconstruction of RPG tropes of Planescape:Torment though? The utter madness of Disco Elysium? Heck, even a silly visual joke such as having a squirrel pop into a bear sex scene?

In other words: Can it become human? Can it feel? Can it reflect? Can it think outside of the box its packed into? Can it CREATE? Arnuld says nah. :D https://tenor.com/de/view/speedball-smile-gif-19580816

Have you seen what o1 and NotebookLM are capable of recently?

Yea and it was terrible. A child could duet better.

Even when AI can get to the point of making 3D worlds in several years or so, it still won't be anywhere close to fun like what humans make. Just like that 2D "game" is boring and dull and only on par with ET for the NES.
