DW tho, Aylin, which is usually helpful, decided to go around attacking the Necromites and fail to kill any 2 rounds in a row
Nope
(granted I didn't do yet the fight on Honour as I postponed my playthrough to wait for some issue resolving of those potential patch 6 issues, so if I'm a fool than I'm just a fool, but coming first in initiative is probably the very best thing for this mode, or I'd even call it mandatory...)
Kar'niss has (looked it up @the-wiki) 3 Base + 5 from Alert + 3 from DEX... I have at least 2 that have more, and everyone of my chums have at least the Alert feat. When I fought that guy (in the fields with the ambush) the very first thing I did was cast "Hold Monster" (from a scroll) on him, so he was certainly out the first 2 rounds (yes it was easier with the Harpers, but was enough to get some better positioning).
I was deathly afraid of the Apostle fight but had no problem this weekend on Honour, just took a while. Actually leaving Aylin "in prison" past the first round helped keep her alive longer.
Myrkul is just a bit problematic for melee chars, because you are bone chilled next to him, so you can't be healed. Otherwise, you can reach lvl 9 or 10 before the fight and the quartermaster or roah starts selling chain lightning scrolls. Then you just need rain dancer or a cleric with create water and blast myrkul from further away.
With a party, the fight is really easy. On honour mode, you actually should know the game allready.
Was it a critical of some sort? I played it after patch 6 with sorcerer-bard, SH (trickster cleric), Minthara, Astarion. I wa level 9
My experience was quite different. Shadowheart was brought to half -health and she got attacked (her AC was 20). A lot. Ketheric was neutralized by the time he got to attack us (I concentrated all fire on Ketheric), I landed hideous laughter on Kar'niss (70% chance so there was some luck).
I think the right gear helps a lot.
Minthara had the gloves that give her heroism when she uses her oath. The tadpole power for autocrit on Minthara and the executioner ring help a lot, too. The adamantine shields and armor can make immune to crits. The blood of Lathander helps, too
I strongly recommend it and spells such as aid, deathward that can give your character a bit more resilience.
P.S. For boss fights I strongly recommend the elixir of vigillance on at least one character. My main also has alert feat, which is very underrated feat.
yea and leaving spider man is a mistake, hes much stronger than ketheric
As the guy above said, initiative is very important. It's huge to take out the mooks with a fireball or two before they can go.
Ketheric does big single target damage, didn't know he had a frighten. I've always been big on radiating orb and reverb, also the reeling heavy xbow on an archer character. You can quickly nerf bosses into oblivion -10 attack roll territory. That xbow is OP tbh.
