For me 2 heavy armors wouldn't work and I only have one shield used so she has pick from all the shields I find so I didn't feel like i had to make one.
I'd also go for 2 heavy adamantine armors - as Shadowheart and my main char both wear heavy plates.
The adamantine splint is also just a very solid piece of armor, Reeling and DR is pretty decent and i was using it on my MC paladin all to way to the end.
DO NOT SELL THE ARMOR!
Seriously, why the heck would you sell a suit of armor that inflicts 3 stacks of Reeling on anybody who hits you while wearing it? Especially in the later game once everybody starts getting multi attacks?
If you don't plan on giving the armor to Lae'zel, Minthara, or possibly your own character, then I would suggest forging the shield. It also applies reeling to anybody who attacks you, but only if they miss.
The armor and shield synergize with each other quite well, because no matter if the enemy hits you or misses you, they still suffer Reeling. Also, the heavy armor and shield combo will give Shadowheart a very high AC.
And if you decide to equip the shield and armour on one character that's good too. They will apply the really strong 'reeling' debuff to enemies when attacked, regardless of whether the enemy hits or misses (armour applies it when you get hit, shield when they miss).
It's crazy powerful as it stacks, so enemies that multi-attack my lae'zel wind up having -6 to hit after one turn due to reeling.
