Lae'zel and Shadowheart will never get along, will they?
It's funny, If I accept Lae'zel's confession, Shadowheart avoids confessing to me afterwards. But if I accept Shadowheart's confession, Lae'zel doesn't give a ♥♥♥♥, and goes for it anyway. And the most interesting aspect is, I think this is entirely in character for both of them.

Well i got to baldurs gate and did shadowhearts quest and yeh there no resolution between them at any point but they do tolerate existing in my camp together. I wish there was a point where theyd get along or become friends. I guess if you play shadowheart as an origin character and romance laezel would be the only way

Maybe not directly, but they express some understanding and empathy for each other's world-shattering discoveries. Eventually.

No, I mean, I get it. Lae'zel wanted to leave Shadowheart in her pod. And then there's the fact that Lae'zel shows some general hostility towards anyone and everyone. Lae'zel is pretty dislikable in general, and doesn't hesitate to antagonize Shadowheart.
But that's what makes their interaction so interesting. I think it's better from a storytelling perspective that their relationship remains unresolved. Not everything comes out with a happy ending, after all.

Laezel is a psychopath nobody should get along with her.

She's not a psychopath, she's just a Gith. They all tend to be like that. It's a cultural thing for them.

She's probably the most rational party member we can have honestly. Probably why I get along with her so well.

Yeah by act 3 they were pretty neutral if not gal pals. Dunno if the course of the MC helped that: paragon MC, romanced Lae'zel, turned Shadowheart good.

She can change completely by act 3 depending on what goes down

It's somewhat omitted (perhaps I never got the interaction in my playthrough), but they do seem to reconcile, at some point as if Lea'zel is captured by Orin, and vice-versa the other expresses genuine concern if talked to.

They both start off fairly unlikeable. Lae'zel is more direct and hostile, while Shadowheart is passive aggressive and snarky. I haven't seen the conclusion yet, but they both grew on me. Maybe it's lazy writing that they're both victims of manipulation, but for me it was kind of nice to see parts of who they may have been without the abuse.

I think the game does it randomly from the pool of people who are in the camp. It can't be the companion in the active party with you, though. There is also a scene with Orin msquerading as a Driad and wriggling the information about your romance interest's habits and secrets, so I guess there is a high chance that the romance is taken. Can't confirm tho, since I did not romance Lae'zel in my playtrough, and had SH in my party all the time.
