Do NOT Seek Purification!!
Alright, I understand some of you may consider this to be spoilers, but I don't care, because this is a very significant problem that everyone needs to be aware of.

When going to the Githyanki Cresche, do NOT seek out the purification device. Submitting yourself to it will inflict a massive debuff to your character in the form of a -2 on their Constitution, Intelligence and Wisdom scores.

As far as I can tell, these debuffs seem to be permanent, because they are not going away with a long rest, and Lesser Restoration can not alleviate them.

I did not notice this on my first playthrough, but I sure as hell did on my second one. Now Lae'zel is walking around with a huge nerf, and I don't know how to fix it.

okay that one definitely will remove with death and resurrecting, thats one ive done myself.

omg ur a genius thanks for letting me know. im in act 2 now and it will be great to get rid of this!

Actually that one gives +2 str, and gives the -1 after resting.
So if you use remove cures before rest, you dont even need to kill your character to get rid of it:D

Also for OP, you got it wrong. If you do not use the purification device you will have a lot of harder choices in Lae'zal's story later.

I actually missed out with the secret feat as i allowed Lae'zal to enter the machine, and got her out at the last time. ;) She suffered NO DAMAGE no debuff nothing.

This is not so much a 'choice with consequence' as it is an 'I don't want to lose the only front line tank we have at this point in the game right now because I pissed her off.'

I had Lae'zel as my main tank throughout the game, and even with the debuff she was cleaning up characters in the late game. I get being worried about the consequences you might face in the later part of the game, but if you care about RPing and going with the consequences, then you'll be just fine.

It's like some of you have never played a game with an actual story before.

Game doesn't actually have consequences, the endings are all linear and boil down to like 4 choices at the end.

I didn't realize they had removed Reeling from the Adamantine longsword, and Lae'zel is the only person in the party who can wear the Adamantine Splintmail I crafted.

I eventually took Heavy Armor Master on her, hoping the 3 damage reduction and +1 strength would help cushion the blow.

And then my 'butler' asked me to kill her in her sleep...

If you corious

use the purification for yourself, leazel will insist on using but with good relation she could be talked to stand down and then suceed the saving throw (intelligence), the third saving throw will use the purification device power to empower yours and you get a feat, just like with omiluum

Thanks for the tip! 100% a better way of doing it.

my Lae'zel has -2 cont -2 int -2 wis but shes still my front liner and she still works fine!
shes a little more of a melee glass cannon in heavy armour now but she still functions fine and her damage is unaffected.

I am kind of curious, how far along in the process do you have to talk her out of it before she gets the debuffs applied? Are they immediately applied the moment the process begins? I remember having several chances to talk her out of the chair before I succeeded in getting her out but she already had debuffs by the time I got her out.

This. She's still great in combat and you can get your CON and/or HP up via levelling anyway. Unless you're actually playing as her the INT and WIS losses just make her slightly more vulnerable to spells and don't matter much.

Has anyone tried remove curse to fix her?

I have yet to find a permanent debuff that a remove curse does not remove. Though I personally have not tried it with that one as I did not get it.

this is not a curse, so remove curse does not work

Every companion has a very different ending with you based on a lot of things. Guess if it doesn't have a trophy associated with it people don't care

Dude, the game has made it abundantly clear from the onset that Lae'zel is extremely determined to reunite with her people, and she doesn't trust any other form of healing besides the purification device.

She even tells you outright that if she believes you are heading in the wrong direction and she misses her chance to visit the creche, that she will leave and find it on her own.

This is not so much a 'choice with consequence' as it is an 'I don't want to lose the only front line tank we have at this point in the game right now because I pissed her off.'

I expected the machine to maybe kill her, or for the draining effects to be temporary once she had time to rest and recover. But no, they're a permanent and massive nerf to her character

just kill them and resurrect.

I really hope that works. :-(
Oh man... yea. I had to backtrack all the way from the end of Act 2 to hit that creche, just to keep her from having a hissy fit and stomping off.
The more and more I look back at every plot point, I realize that this game is 100% on rails and that it wasn't my story to begin with.
