SPOILER ! is it inevitable to lose Lae'Zel ???
Obviously we are not supposed to give the artifact away, so I did not comply to the demands for it.
But when you attack Ch'R'Ai W'wargazz in the temple, you meet the goddess.
I also did not obey, so I was given the choice to enter the other dimension.
But first I looted here and there before I would do so.
However, all of a sudden Lae'Zel left the party of her own and attacked me. She is gone now.

Is this outcome story-based and inevitble ?

I'd like to know if someone has done the same without losing Lae'zel, cause I'm about to do so but I don't want to lose Lae'zel.

In short: Lae'zel will stay if you do the proper dialogue options and have some luck with the dice.

OP should definately roll back to a previous save (before talking to commander / inquisitor / queen) if the outcome doesn't suit him.

No you can keep her, it depends on things (and dice I expect) and I did not lose her

I tried to give it, expecting it'd return to me (and so it did), met the goddess, said I'd kill the being in the artifact, but betrayed her. I just wanted to talk to the being inside, face-to-face, because I had questions and they weren't exactly giving me answers. I wanted to force their hand. Then I exited and killed everyone. I think I had to pass a check with Lae'zel, or share my memories, something like that.

She had no problem with my actions in the creche and never tried to leave. And just for the record: Vlaakith is not a deity, she is a lich (= powerful undead wizard).

You need to have a high enough rep with her and agree to go inside the artifact to kill its inhabitant (you don't actually have to kill them) if you don't give it to her. You basically need her to stick around long enough to see how unreasonable her people are.

You can keep her.

You need to convince her to Follow your lead. Then Dont refuse the queen outright, say "No, in fact, I'm gonna free them"

That'll lead to the Vlakith giving you an access inside the prism. There, Lae'zel will learn the truth and side with you from now on, but she will be branded as Traitor among her kind, which is the right path since they are all brainwashed lizards.

Edit: Don't kill the person inside the prism, they will be the one to tell the truth.

thanks for the answers. As I am playing a lawful good Paladin, it was NO OPTION to agree to Vlaakith's demands. And then - as I presumedly turned against her deity - it is inevitable to lose Lae'Zel. interesting game mechanics. this is realistic.
In the meantime I have arranged with the situation, as I could not decide between her and the Barbarian anyway. Besides I hated Lae'zels aggressive arrogant stance from the beginning.

in fact you can kill her, but she's immortal and revive (if it was not the case, the game end at this point anyway), there is a nice cutscene associate to it and you feel just dumb and idiot after doing it, but you will not learn everything since you wil upset her.

Thank you all for these replies.
I decided to refuse giving the artefact to the Githyankis, I fought and killed the ch'r'ai W'wargaz and only then I met Vlaakith who congratulated me for being more powerful than the ch'r'ai. I entered the artefact, discussed with the inhabitant without trying to kill him. Then I exited the artefact and now I'm the enemy of the crèche.

I hope Lae'zel will not leave me, I want to keep her by my side.
Anyway now the issue is that I've done all of this in first place when arrived at the crèche, I haven't visited the crèche before becoming an enemy, I hope I won't miss something important.

Oh, that's interesting. Maybe frustrating, you might want to make a turn with your character, but it's still interesting.

I ended up keeping her tho she did not make it easy. I first did not give the artefact to the giftyanki, fought them all bit the biggest turning point was with the Healer lady and convincing lazel to get off that thing. It was good proof that her creshe are all insane and that she should follow my lead. I also shared my mind with her after the meeting with dream savior person which helped.

She will have a reason to stick with you if you turn over the artifact.

However, for context, it is important to note that the Githyanki are raised from birth to be blindly devoted to their queen. It doesn't matter if the artifact is protecting you from the Absolute's influence. Vlaakith demands you give it back to her and slay the occupant, so that is what Lae'zel will insist on doing.
If you have enough "consideration" from Laezel you can tell her to trust you whatever comes next. Simple as that.
