In BG2 money was always tight. Do I spend my hard earned money on the AC 4 bracers or do I first buy a decent STR girdle? In BG3 there is money in abundance and next to no excellent items. The vendors suck in general. Where is the special magic shop? Where is the cool thieves black market shop? Economy is not well implemented.
lol, 2000000 coins from the very start. Very tight, of course.

The main issue is vendors refreshing gold when you had a long rest.

that can't be from just fight loots

Both. Karlach is bear totem and has double carrying capacity. That helps a lot.

In BG2 you could literally buy 3 master thief potions from the thiefs guild, drink them on rogue to push pickpocket to >220% and go around and steal from every vendor +3 weapons and other nice things, only Ribald was not pickpocketable. If you wanted endless money just steal and sell to the thiefs vendor and steal items back and sell again.

In BG3 you can easily steal "low priced" items around 1k value and sell them back as many times as you want so nearly the same like in BG2, endless money if you want to.

For spending money: there are some purple items in act3 at vendors for 11k+ available but in general you will end with too much money like in any RPG.

oh yay, you found a loophole to exploit.
here's another thing: BG2 just writes your gold in the ram, you can just set it to 16 bits of 1 and have more gold than you can ever spend, therefore BG2 also has a gold problem, right?

For people who play games normally and don't abuse the hell out of mechanics that no DM would let you get away with, gold was perfectly fine in BG2

are you supposed to be able to buy everything or is it supposed to be a choice?

You will not be able to buy +5 8 weapons and best armour for gold.
Only by using some exploits.

5e doesn't have an economy. the horrible idea of forcing every number to be under 20 means you can't actually have real magic items because getting stronger breaks what very little math is actually there. the only magic items you should be getting in tabtletop 5e is worthless crap that makes you go "huh, neat" but that doesn't really work without an actual DM to react to whatever weird 'neat' thing you plan on doing with your cloak of fried chicken.

money sinks would be a good idea though, purely narrative stuff like running a thieve's guild or an inn or something.

if running a thieves guild was a money sink, there wouldn't be any thieves guilds lol

I'm still in act 1 (near the end) and I have about 18k gold more scrolls and arrows then I know what to do with, I bought every item off every vendor that I thought was useful. Never stole anything unless it was from enemies like goblins or the zhentarim or the ones in the monastery. Just looted enemies and sold their goods, I now regret looting and carrying all those white weapons and armors that are filling up merchants inventories. Next run I'm definitely not looting white gear to sell, the amount of gold I already have is absurd and like others mentioned there isn't really anything good to spend it on and you find so many awesome items you don't need to buy that many.

I play on tactician as well but I barely have any need for any consumables so they just get sold.

Love the game to death but there's serious flaws in the management of economy and inventory.
