Why Npc's Are Hostile to me.
I came across this article and at one point why they were being hostile towards me and kept attacking me. This explains why

I like the fact it's all factors that factor into it. Sure we've had games in the past, know you've been stealing items. But the AI knows you've been using Charm Spells as well. This game's AI knows everything you're character does and keeps it noted as well. It's a nice change of pace that a game lives up to, "choices matter" and they do affect the outcome of the game 😆

It's in the actual write up for the spell. Once it wears off, the target knows you used magic to influence their mind.

Which, you would think, is extremely counter intuitive for Enchanters looking to abuse their magic to achieve positions of power in society.

Yeah charming others is considered a hostile action. I believe it's even in DnD lore that most spells that do anything that harm or force someone against their will is considered illegal.

Fair Enough but I still think that's pretty cool if you ask me 😝

As they should be?

The problem isn't that it's considered illegal, the problem is that once the spell wears off, the subject immediately knows they were under the influence of magic, as well as who placed it upon them.

Why would anybody choose to specialize in the School of Enchantment, when it seems like the drawbacks completely negate all the potential benefits?

I....never said that wasn't the case? Idk why you're directing this to me lol

Obviously the issue is the user knows you manipulated them. I was just saying that in DnD lore, there's laws against it. In some places all magic is forbidden within the city walls. It was just a fun tidbit of info.

Oh, I wasn't directing it at anyone, I was just voicing my thoughts about the situation.

People don't like when you use your spooky scary spelletons to mess their heads.

Ah my bad then. The wording seemed like you were saying I was implying something lol

But yea. It's kind awesome they went the extra mile to implement that. I'd imagine the reason anyone would specialize in Enchantment in-world is...well rules are often bent for the greater good lol Plus, it's only illegal if they live to report it.

It is neat, but it's also why I would only use those spells in critical situations.

I'm not obsessed with passing every dialogue check in the game. If I'm personally not a Charisma player then there's no need to use charms. If I am a high Charisma player, then it'd be unnecessary for me to spam charms.

One thing in EA that I didn't like is when I looted an ally who died in battle. She basically appeared from out of nowhere as if she were still alive, and then accused me of stealing.

I then had to pay a fine.

I hope that isn't in the final game. Unless it's the NPC's legitimate ghost.

Look you guys are completely missing the point as usual 🙄
I have played every conceiveable RPG out there and I don't remember a game that had this level of AI 😝
