No Discount During "Turn-Based RPG" Sale?
I was looking forward to picking this up when the Turn-Based RPG sale took effect. Sad to see it not getting a discount! Anyone have a prediction of when it might go on sale again?

Game is worth full price, just buy it. And even if it does go on sale expect only 10%, 20% at the Absolute MAX. Why would they give a deep discount for an amazing game that sells very well at full price?

At the very least during the Winter Sale, unless there's another similar one before that.

E: Autumn Sale, apparently: https://steamdb.info/sales/history/

There's a long list of year-old, blockbuster games like BG3 that are no longer full price, and that are regularly discounted. But yes, they can sell their game at whatever price they want, I'm not arguing that... What I'm saying is: why not discount what's supposed to be one of the best turn-based RPG's ever made, during the turn-based RPG sale? Seems odd.

Thank you, I appreciate your reply. That would be my guess as well.

You do a sale to increased sold copies and promote your game. BG3 needs neither, everybody knows about it already and it sells like hot cakes.

D:OS2 is from 2017. Do you see the price?

You can move along now.

Lol. Yep. And BG3 is a far superior game. Even tho I did really enjoy DOS2.

This game is not going to have a large discounted price for a long time yet. Larian and Steam, have a golden goose and should milk it for all they can get out of it. After all, they both are not a charity organization.

I purchased in EA, and have over 400hrs, I def think it's best to way for a discount, there's lots of flaws that can ruin a person's playthrough, from bugs, to bad storytelling, or cringey npcs.
Sidenote: Tons of places sell this game for way cheaper than Steam, most people I know don't purchase this game here. I recommend using google, and finding a key somewhere else.

Compared to the upcoming Dragon Quest III 2D remake at 60$ and Silent Hill 2 remake 70$, BG3 at 60$ is a deal already.
Some games are priced sensibly from the start, other overpriced and shortly discounted.

Being also still actively worked on, one year after release, helps justify the stable pricing.

Larian doesn't have to put the game on sale. It's very much worth full price. One of the very few AAA games that actually are worth the asking price.

Just checked. There are over 75,000 player playing right now on Steam alone. Not bad for a single player, turn based, RPG game. Pretty amazing actually.

They don't have to, but they already have in the past. In fact, it was on sale just recently. And so it's strange that it's not on sale during an event that celebrates turn-based RPG games. I don't think that it's crazy to think that.

Maybe they just do not perceive their game as turn based game.

I myself did not notice it was missing, since my first association of Baldur's Gate saga is not that it is turn based, but an RPG.

Like, where are the Final Fantasy discounts by the logic that turn based games are supposed to be discounted?

How many of them are still seeing the sales and player retention that BG3 is seeing?

Perhaps they judged it was too soon for yet another sale when the game is still doing numbers especially after Patch 7's release.
