You don't need to walk straight into the goblin village, there are several routes around and through that open up different playthrought options. Keep in mind, that gobbos aren't care bears just cuz you don't attack them.
Betraying the cove and opening the gate for the goblins is my absolute finest memory, ah and how the characters look at you, you can feel the emotions in that scene :) Overall the goblin camp and grandma Ethel were my favorite parts of the game so far.
