Still not relevant?

almost all the adamantine weapon aren't worth compared to the armor and shield

I can think of no good reason to waste the limited amount of Mithral Ore on weapons.

The armor at least remains relevant into act 3.

The only "useful" weapon would be the Mace, in order to break down doors/chests faster since adamantine weapons always crit against objects. Or you can just lockpick everything and take both armors.

Nope. Shield and Armor every time.

Currently thinking about my latest party:

gith sorcerer/bard (can use medium armor) -- have been running her as dual weapons
shadowheart (can use heavy armor and shield) -- plan for her to use shields
lae'zel (can use heavy armor) -- plan for her to 2-hand, will take the grym helmet
gale (can use shield)

Gale gets an adamantine shield. He'll probably use that the whole game.

The question then is whether Tav gets an armor or Shadowheart gets the heavy armor or a shield.

In Act 2 I can get a medium armor that allows full dex bonus and also the flawed hell armor as soon as I get to Last Light. Only Shadowheart and Lae'zel can wear that heavy armor, so I'm thinking maybe I get a shield for Shadowheart and Tav is the one one without crit protection.

Or maybe I get Shadowheart the heavy armor, and then I can put the hell armor onto Lae'zel. Except I can also buy the dwarven armor from Moonrise Towers. No damage reduction, but +2 on CON adds HPs and helps with concentration saves. Hmm. I think shield is the way to go.

----

Anyway, none of the weapons are even a possible consideration.

Got it, thanks for the answers everyone).
It's a pity, of course, that this weapon is so useless.

It's not useless. It is just not the best decision on what to make of the Forge. The Armor for some classes ( in your group of companions ), can last until the end of the game.

I always get two pcs of the Armor. The no crit on them is a great stat.

OK so, Heavy armour is not worth, there is only one set of heavy armour I ever use and thats the Helldusk armour which I get in act 1, at level 7 , medium armour is where it is at. all characters should have at least dex 16 for that tasty initiative bonus, so wearing that heavy armour removes the benefit of having the decent dex.

shields = Safeguard Shield in Act 1, shield of devotion at Last Light Inn from Talli, Sentinel Shield from Lann Tarv in Moonrise... there are SO many better shields than that Adamantine. having anti-arit on Gale (assuming he is still a wizard) inst worth it, why is he getting hit...?

I vendor the Grym Helm cos its horrible, again much better helms out there for your builds.

(my comment is based on a "good" non-honour play-through without mods)

In theory, the adamantine weapons appear decent as their damage type is not resistable.

But in practice, it just doesn't play out that way.

Pick anything but the weapons when it is time to forge.

Now that I think about it, the only thing in the game which really ought to be vulnerable to adamantine weapons is the thing you have to defeat to get adamantine weapons.

Although I probably would have made them useful against the Steel Watch, if I'd been designing stuff.
Garf412 Oct 24, 2024 @ 11:44am
yeah, they do seem a bit meh.. compared to well, pretty much any of the "pink" (very rare) weapons, of the Legendary that you can get in Act 1.
DeMasked Oct 24, 2024 @ 1:08pm
Adamantine Scimitar ignores resistance to slashing damage which can be useful for Sneak Attack since it's a finesse based weapon.

You can then get the Amulet of Branding from the Creche which can apply vulnerability to slashing for 3 turns (until they take damage so... sneak attack) once per long rest and combined with the auto crit Illithid power Luck of the Far Realms your full attack + sneak attack will do 3x the damage while ignoring any resistances.

The ignore resistance also applies to your other weapons if it also has slashing damage.

Unfortunately proficiency with scimitar isn't given to Rogue or any race so you'd have to multiclass 1 level into Barbarian, Fighter, Paladin, Ranger or Druid to keep the 6d6 sneak attack while losing a feat at level 12. Probably Fighter or Ranger.

Could be interesting.

Back in Early Access, the Adamantine Weapons used to inflict Reeling on hit. I believe it was 1 stack for Mace and Scimitar, with 2 stacks for Longsword.

Now, all they do is bypass Sturdy and auto crit when hitting objects. Making them next to worthless.

Just make a suit of armor and a shield, it's way better.

I seem to remember they were better once upon a time....
