Baldur's gate 3 Custom Mode Achievement.
Hey guys, I have a question. I would like to start the game in custom mode, because I would like to use a single save, but I have not finished the game in Tactician mode yet, and since I would like to unlock that achievement, can I unlock it even if I use Custom mode and set the difficulty to Tactician, or do I have to play it in Tactician mode?

If you want only one save, just play honor mode. Honor mode will give you an achievement for tactician. No need for custom mode.

Aside from the single save, is Honor Mode more difficult than Tactician Mode or the same? I mean the hostility of the enemies and the combat.

The same with added rules/stricter rules

For example: extra attacks stacking with haste
Wheras you can get easily ten attacks in one turn from a single character, that is definitely not possible in Honour Mode as the Honour Mode rules surpress that sort of mechanic to make take away its overpowered nature. While such affect NPC enemies, it affect players most.

And bosses have legendary actions which is exclusive to enemies and bring in surprises and new challenges for new challengers.

Hmm, I see. In fact, for that I wanted to play a Tactician mode first, and then the Honor one (after I became a bit more experienced with the game), however I am interested in unlocking the achievements, but I was very intrigued by the idea of playing a game with a single save. That's why I asked. Otherwise I'll try to throw myself into the Honor or Tactician adventure (even if I have to give up the single save with the latter).

Considering that Honour / Tactician mode are always meant to be challenging, it is wise and normal to start with the easier one first. Otherwise it is just throughout unfair due to the open world mechanic you will not get a linear challenge progression. As in: it is easy to run into obstacles which can wipe you out due to the increased challenge difficulty if you do not know about it. What is "challenging yet doable" in normal mode can be horribly hard in Honour Mode.

That much of increased difficulty you should always keep in mind.

Personally I suggest: play the game without paying the achievements any mind. Experience the game at least once without looking up what you need to do to do this or that.

You still can work with milestones savegames if you go not with Honour Mode, so you could easily reload at points and try hunting specific achievements.

Or just go with the flow and maybe you, like countless others, find the game so enjoyable that it becomes worth replaying. But first do it without spoilers.

Having a single savegame is indeed the best way to enjoy the game if it is all about not reloading just because of the dice. However, that you can achieve with discipline as well, and there are very strong reasons why you should not reload failed dice rolls whenever possible.

Play the game at least once without spoilers
Most people do not want to read this. Probably you neither.

Maybe some people need to read this. Maybe there are none.

Do yourself a favour and do not question your actions time and time again while being trigger happy with the quick load hotkey.

You only take away all the fun from the dice. And you actually bought the game to have fun with the dice, did you not?

Role play. Embrace the outcomes. The good ones. The bad ones. The hilarious ones. The mindblowing ones.

At least for one playthrough. Just one playthrough.

Or are you determined to see all at once? You might see but you might not understand.

You will ruin that way what makes a role play game fun.

You will ruin everything you worked so far. Taking out the meaning of your actions.

Doubts and regrets turning into relief and lessons - you might not find such.

Conviction and ego turning into regret, cautioness and eventually redemption - you might not find such.

You might not find any of that if you ruin your game for yourself. But you might never knew to begin if you never tried. It could be grand. But only if you would allow it.

Just once. Or what else does a role play game means to you?

Are you playing?
Or are you running away ingame what you are running away from in real life?
How nice it would be if you could endlessly reroll event by event in your life.
But would you really see any meaning of life like that, or are you hopelessly lost, and you just mirror a meaningless life ingame?

What shall it be?

Meaning in life means to take responsibility for your action.
Meaning in game means you can enjoy without actually getting hurt.

Are you ready to roll for initiative?

Last but not least here is a tip for you if you go for Honour Mode

The game is not perfect, and unless you setup yoru Windows properly, it rarely glitches out. So even if playing Honour Mode I recommend having a backup for every game session so you can at least restore the last game session should you ever run in any of the super rare glitches. That will save your nerves and maybe some more alongside the tips you can find in the guides.

If you have more questions to prepare your adventure, go ahead.

Until then happy adventuring! :spacehamster:

Thanks, but I'm already playing the game in balanced mode, I haven't finished the game yet, I'm at Act 3, but I was thinking of starting again in Tactician mode, after finishing my first run, so I decided to start the game in easier mode, since it's my first time approaching the game. However, I want to continue unlocking the achievements and so I wanted to gradually proceed with the various modes, with the only exception of using the single save. As you say, it's also something that can be achieved with discipline, but I didn't want to be tempted. In my first run, in fact, I wanted to be a little more free to do savescum in certain situations (only in certain situations). But in the second I wanted to change the rules a bit. Like in Souls, for example, where you can't go back. The only problem is that I don't know if using Custom mode, setting a single save and entering the difficulty in Tactician I can still unlock the achievement. When in doubt, I opt for Tactician mode trying to use the single save by myself, or starting an Honor mode, at most if I lose in the game I continue the run and unlock the achievement, the only thing that holds me back is that I don't want the fights to be too difficult, even compared to Tactician Mode. Maybe I wanted to get there more gradually. As I'm doing now starting with the balanced mode.

The achievement is bount to the game mode. So custom mode will not gain you those special achievements.
