How To Get 22 Charisma!
Step 1 - Raise your Charisma Score to the supposed cap of 20.

IMPORTANT: For this to work properly, you must only use ASI's to do this.

Step 2 - Take either the Actor, or the Resilient (Charisma) feat.

Step 3 - Take the other of the two you did not previously pick.

-------------------

During some of my recent playthroughs, I have noticed that despite their in game descriptions claiming otherwise, both the Actor and the Resilient (Charisma) feats can elevate your Charisma score above 20. Which, taking them together will bump it up to 22.

I am not sure if this works with Performer as well, as I haven't really tried it. I consider Performer to be a useless feat. Bards can already play musical instruments, and other classes can learn how to do so from Alfira.

Are you sure it's not a mod you're using that does this?
Garf412 Nov 2, 2024 @ 11:17am
start at 17, hags hair to 18, feat for +2, birthright helm to 22, mirror of loss to 24...

That's what I suspected. But I none of the mods I have downloaded or enabled mention anything about being able to push the ability score cap higher. And I can only do it by using this exploit.

Mirror of Loss even allows to get +3 (if you do it correctly). You probably can even get 26.

Also the most efficient way is to use Ability Improvement not Actor and stuff like that...

How do you use the Mirror of Loss to get +3?

You didn't read the OP properly if you think ASI is "the most efficient way" to do this. OP is talking about bypassing the 20 Ability Score limit that ASI and every other feat has with an exploit.

I have read it. But I guess you dont understand this.

Look at Garf412s comment.

So to get the most out of it:

Start with 16 in Charisma (put your points somewhere else) and get 2x Ability Improvement to get 20 or alternatively get 17 in Charisma and an odd number somewhere else to get 1 Ability Improvement with +2 Charisma and another with 1+ Charisma and +1 in the odd stat (like constitution or dext is usually a good choice).

This is to get 20 in Charisma with just 2 Ability Improvements (and get higher stats in other abilities, because Actor is mainly only Role Play and a bad feat for an actual Build).

Now to bypass the limit of 20 you can get (even I repeat what Garf412 basically already said):
+1 Hags Hair (not capped at 20 so adds +1 over 20)
+2 Birthright (a Hat you get in Act 3, bypass the limit of 20, too)
+1 from the Mirror of loss (Act 3, Patriars Memory, always +1 Charisma if you manage to get it, bypasses the limit of 20, too but you have to take it before you take the next one)
+2 from the Mirror of loss (Act 3, The Prayer, bypasses the limit of 20, too and can be any attribute, if you get this first you wont be able to get the previous one anymore)

So a total of 26. Not sure if you could even go higher.

The limit through Ability Improvement is 20 but thats not the max you can get, the max is 30 as far as I know (just by other means than ability improvement). Just not sure if there are more things in the base game that can increase it beyond that.

To read how to get +3 from Mirror of Loss (+1 Charisma from Patriars Memory and +2 on any Ability from the Prayer) read here, there is a detailed description:

If you read it, then you didn't understand it.

Get 20 with ASI, then get 22 with the feats OP mentioned. That's BEFORE you get all the other bonuses. This is what OP said. You just didn't understand it.

Ah now I get it. I thought he used Actor and Resilient instead of an Ability Improvement. If so, then you even could get 28 (but only with a fighter / fighter multiclass)

But I am a bit sceptical that this is really working and if so, it sounds like a bug.

I assure you, I've been able to raise the cap on my Charisma beyond 20. I've done it multiple times as of writing this.

And again, I can't find anything in my mod descriptions that say they elevated the cap on ability scores, nor can I raise them beyond 20 through taking ASI or other Half Feats that require you to pick an ability to improve.

Did you try it in a vanilla game without any mods?

Hat.
Mike Garrison Nov 2, 2024 @ 9:02pm
Getting to 22 CHA is trivial, actually.

ASI feats can raise you to 20. The hat from Sorcerous Sundries can raise it to 22. (24 is on the table as well, if you use the Sharran mirror.)

However, there is only one CHA hat, so only one character can wear it.

The hat is limited to 22, and the mirror is limited to 24, so even if you did come up with a way to get to 22 without the hat, it still wouldn't get you past 24. However, I guess it would allow you to wear a different hat.

Perhaps, but the point of this thread is that it's possible to go over 20 without having to rely on potions, spells, or equipment. Just pure Feats you get from leveling up.

Considering that I can't raise any other stat in this way, as they're all capped at 20, I figured it was worth pointing out.
Panda Nov 3, 2024 @ 1:28am
Game only bugs about Ethel +1 stat, everything else is either working or not, for example heavy armor master should give you +1 str stat, but it won't for some reason.
22 is cap for charisma/every other non str stat. - don't write here about 23 charisma, it's still 22 and 24 with a head item - should be patched since hat has cap at 22.
24 is cap for str.
No items, pure stats.

Is there any reason to have so much of any stat over the cap? Do they even work as intended when they are over the cap?
