What quests are good to start with at Act 3?
I don't know why I am asking this as I have already done 4 playthroughs but for some reason I am struggling this time. I did struggle the other times but not as bad as this one. Maybe it is because I haven't played for about a year before this playthrough. Maybe I am using different classes. Maybe its just that I am rubbish at this game.

My current party is at level 10.
The characters/ classes I use are mainly main character (Oathbreaker Paladin), Karlach (Monk), Asterian (Rogue) and Shadowheart (Cleric). I sometimes swap Aserian for Gale (Wizard)

Using the info above, what quests would people recommend?

I've tried House of Grief (tried 7 hours on this and was getting nowhere so too hard), the end of Murder Investigation (enemy are level 11 and Saravok is buffed up to the high heavens so too hard), The vampire leader quest ( this used to be easy with the Daylight spell but I think the game developers have fixed this so the Daylight spell doesn't work as well so now too hard)

I always do everything I can in Rivington, and then Wyrm's Crossing, before moving into the city proper.

Once in the city, I like to take care of the hag pretty early. Also to fight the gith under the inn, clear out the sewers, do the fight in the park, mess around in the graveyard, etc.

I also take out Lorroakan ASAP, because he has some great loot. House of Hope for the same reason, and because it is fun. But House of Hope can be tricky, and I don't think I would try it at Level 10.

Never thought about heading back to Rivington. I looked at a website earlier showing all the BG Act 3 quests and it seemed there was quite a bit to do in Rivington. So it'll be back to there then

If you do as much as you can in Acts 1&2, and then do as much of Rivington as you can (the Necromancer Quest can't be finished without entering the Lower City) then you can be L11 , or Dam near it, before going into the Lower City.

Go. For. The. Ruined. Crypt.

Seriously, everybody keeps skipping this one in Multiplayer and running straight for the grove, and I have no idea why? You guys know you need Withers to raise dead party members and respec your class, right?

-----------------

Also, I find the best way to speed run yourself to level 4 is to do Withers' crypt, then go to the grove to meet Nettie, then cut through the Blighted Village and head to the Zhentarim Hideout. Killing everybody in there can usually bump you up to level 4, but if it doesn't, you can go back to the village and take out the Ogres.

It's a long, tedious process, but it's fairly simple once you've memorized it.

Looks like this post should have gone in a different thread.

OK I repeat again. Quests that can be done (and finished) at level 10. I tried Suspicious Toys quest that starts in Rivington and ends in Lower City. Little did I know you have to kill several level 11 NPCs. Several attempts later haven't finished it yet.

Blowing up the top floor seems to do little as it doesn't kill everyone there as you tube videos claim it does.

Sorry, didn't see StarScepters post before writing my last post. It seems there is more than 1 quest that starts in Rivington and ends in Lower City. I suppose I will have to go back to Rivington and Wryms Crossing and not venture into lower city to finish some of the quests until I am nearly level 11.

Doh! it seems in the 3 or 4 years of playing this including EA I haven't learned a thing lol

Depends on how fast you want Minsc or how fast you want to get to Sorcery Sundry vendors.

The only quest I do not advise bypassing is the Harper quest line as you cannot go back to it without it auto-completing rather weirdly.

Once over the bridges, there are certain things you do NOT want to do as it starts the clock and forces you to complete some quests you might not want to mess with just yet. One is the execution notice.

I usually rush ahead and open up as many Act 3 areas as I can as I make the rounds to the vendors with the coolest stuff and get my party loaded-out early into the act.

But that is just me...

Whatever you do, DON'T destroy the foundry before visiting the iron throne.

Go to the circus, speak to the djin, trick him into letting you inside that jungle location to retrieve Nyrulna trident... One of the best, if not the best, weapon in game. With it in the hands of a multiple attack fighter , all other quests become easier.

I've partially done every quest in Rivington and I am still nowhere near level 11.

By partially I mean I have done everything about the murders except the last part as I maybe need to be higher than level 10 to finish it

I cannot finish Dribbles the Clown quest until I finish the murders quest

The end of the suspicious toys quest I need to be a higher level

It's too late to do Jaheira's quest

I'm getting bored of waiting for an answer so I will try and go on a mass killing spree until I am level 11 lol

You don't have to complete every Rivington quest before moving onto the rest of the city.
GmanUK1965 Aug 31, 2024 @ 7:43pm
Maybe not as I would probably have to kill every innocent in the city to gain to get the 9000 xp that I need
