Does anyone use those Sussar magic killers?
They used to have a certain purpose in the game that seems no longer needed.

My question is, does anyone use them for something like a fighter carrying one, and preventing mages in melee range from casting?

How useful?

I did in one runthrough. Was fun! They do have limitations, of course, but there are several Underdark encounters in which they are very useful when used effectively!

I used the sussur dagger to sneak attack and silence the Hag with Astarion once and she couldn't teleport to her hideout. 😂

That is awesome thinking

Honestly I didn't even do it on purpose, it just sort of happened, the dagger was a secondary weapon. And yeah I think she goes invisible first and that's what she couldn't do while silenced lol.

i just use a sussur greatsword on lae'zel, she also has the mage slayer feat so if she gets over to a caster they aren't long for the profession

Thanks, but I didn't mean Sussur weapons, I just meant the pieces you find that block magic around them if they're in your inventory. Sounds like post 1 did that?

I think they wither if you take them to the surface but I wonder if they would make the fight vs Nere a bit easier.

She's got a potion of invisibility on her, which you can pickpocket to stop her from doing that.

Put the weapon on somebody with Mage Slayer, for that double dose of "♥♥♥♥ you" to enemy spell casters.

Hmm I wonder what stopped her from fleeing then. Maybe it was the fact that she was far away from the hideout entrance. Just cornered her and all she did was melee attacks while Asta reapplied silence. 😂

Anyway my issue with the weapons are that they are only +1 so they get replaced after a bit.

It's not the +1 that's the important thing, it's that they have the chance to inflict SILENCE on their targets.

A silenced spell caster is a useless spell caster.

Sure but at that point your party is sort of OP so it doesn't matter that much and there are many interesting alternatives, gear-wise, also casters are usually squishy so they are quickly the first to go... and it's useless vs non casters so it kinda becomes a niche thing. xD

The weapon you can make from one is quite nice, if we could only upgrade it it would be a must keep for later in the game.

As is though yes there are a few fights where its nice to toss one of the flowers on a barbarian, monk or other martial to shut down casters.
