i can see in an actual game having a plot point to help the character out, but i feel "make him go back to his normal looks" will always play second fiddle to "we have a bomb in our heads"
like as far as punishment goes, he loses functionally nothing, his health is fine, he didn't lose years off his life, or any powers, he got punished by changing race, which is a big old nothing in terms of punishments.
he could have lost his soul over this if she didn't want him as her pawn going forward.
What was old Wyll like?
So in truth, he wasn't "better" unless one conciders a constant state of unrestrained, seething rage & hatred to be a good thing.
I find it interesting that if he does become Grand Duke Ravengard, that people are willing to accept him despite the horns. He does suggest it will be a challenge, but with his father vouching for him it should go smoother. It's interesting that breaking his pact with Mizora doesn't end her curse on him, nor does any other method (like remove curse or something more powerful). There IS a COSMETIC mod to remove the horns and give him back his old look, but from a 'gameplay' point of view everyone still 'thinks' he has horns.
Quote from BG3 Wiki: "In Early Access, he struggled with a brutal side and with living up to the title of the Blade of Frontiers, and had a particular hatred of goblins. His pact with Mizora was made due to his desire for vengeance after being attacked by goblins and losing his eye to one of them."
However this is imo a very superficial description for details read https://gamerant.com/baldurs-gate-3-wyll/ on how they changed Wyll.
Early-Access Wyll was just better.
run this in a script extender window

Selling your soul to a devil and then failing to live up to your end of the bargain has unpleasant consequences.
Who would have thought?
I certainly can.
Karlach is a DM-PC, which is made evident when you play her as your avatar, and learn that she breaks the 4th wall by interacting with the player as if we are a disembodied voice in her head.
