Orin fight is nonsense
First time I had to put this game down since I started playing it out of concern for my own sanity. This fight feels like it was deliberately engineered to be as annoying and unfun as possible. My party gets endlessly barraged by every form of CC on the planet (fears, stuns, slows, prone.....) and can't even take their turn most of the time. Our friends "Sactuary" and "Unstoppable" obviously have to be here as well, the two most annoying and gimmicky enemy abilities in the game. Orin gets SEVEN whole stacks of unstoppable, and GETS THEM BACK EVERY TURN? And the only way to stop it is to kill all 6 bozos with permanent sanctuary, who are conveniently spaced far enough apart to make it extremely difficult to kill them with AOE spells? Who thought of this garbage?

I couldn't put this game down all through acts 1 and 2. I can't even remember the last story game I binged this hard, that's how much I love it. But this whole Bhaal cult quest has just been such a dredge in general with so many enemies having sanctuary, unstoppable and on-demand invisibility. This final fight is just the icing on the crap cake.

That's all. You may now commence the 'git gud' comments

I've beaten her on an Honour run with no issues. Sorcerer-Bard (5lvls sorcerer, 6 lvls valor bard), though it did became a bit challenging once I run out of spells (the extra melee attack fro th bard help me win; I might have played my cards (spells) way better, though). Her will save is not great and she is not a great damage dealer in her slayer form (if your AC is at least 24). I had to summon earth elemental midfight but it did almost no damage, being feared 90% of the time. I used 6-7 strong healing potions, 2 scrolls of blur and 2 elixirs of invulnerability. She has evasion so most of the AoE spells do not work great.

For a no Durge run I recommend hasting somebody who can cast magic missile/ scorching ray on her. Then she dies quite quickly.

P.S. Heroes feast, the Minthara's boots preventing you from being prone do wonders (medium armor prof required).

She's got the stone for the netherese crown though.

You get it anyway, but i dont remember if her corpse spawns after the cutscene or you have to loot her chamber for it.

What is truly painful is throwing Ethel off a cliff since you lose +1 attribute point

It's in her Knife, hence throwing her off might soft lock you.

Nah, there is a softlock protection with each netherstone.
For some time it was possible to put one in the barrel then destroy it, now you have to throw the barrel into the unreachable lethal drop and even then there is no sotlock because you get a game over screen.
I think there was something with katheric, where you could remove the stone from the game and it wouldn't notice.
So her dagger probably spawns somewhere, just like gortash gauntlets spawn in his bedroom

Lol, I just threw her off with the barbarian
I considered that but wanted the loot. But she didn't have anything worthwhile after all

No, but if you get Ethel to vomit up the kid she ate, before killing her, the kid's mom gives you a legendary one-handed sword. That's pretty worthwhile, at least for rogues/rangers.[/spoller]

That's act 3, i'm pretty sure they are talking about act 1

No, see... he said it was act 3 spoilers, and mentioned planting barrels on the fungi.

Did you go see her mom afterwards, for the reward? (Also, I did mean killing Ethel, not the kid.)

It can be annoying on tactician and honor mode for sure as it takes 2 players with MM and/or a multi attack bard. MM spells can run out before you down her, so a multi-attack summons helps too even if you don't have a monk. I never really waste time on the edge bhaalists, but AOE spells work to kill them to weaken Orin if you don't come stacked with lots of missiles in the spellbook + scrolls.

Honestly, this fight was easy for me on tactician. Like all big fights in this game it's all about how you approach it: think outside the box. I came in with a ton of minions to begin with (Djini being the most important), coated me crossbow with crawler mucus and paralyzed Orin first thing: she never moved throughout the fight! Then, Tav, Gale, and Djini went around the circle blasting her minions into the abyss with thunder arrows, thunder wave and gust of wind. Meanwhile, Laezel and the rest of the gang (Shadow heart, 2 mummies, 1 fire elemental, 4 ghouls and 1 water myrmidon) battered a paralyzed Orin / Slayer to reduce her HP as much as possible. She managed one attack once the paralysis wore off and killed 1 ghoul before Laezel cut her into tiny little pieces. By the time the dust had settled I found myself thinking "wow, was that it?"

When I was dueling her as a warlock she suicided herself in a turn when she attacked my armor of agthys. I was probably as shocked as she was.

Black Hole from the Illithid Powers makes this easier.
Draw a bunch of them together, then set up a Cloud of Daggers.

First off, equip your tankiest character with some sort of retaliation, like the fleshmelter cloak. It makes Orin take 1 damage every time she deals damage, which is up to 9 of her unstoppables I think. Secondly, sanctuary is not that tough to avoid. Basically any AoE spell can damage them, and ie thunderwave works like a charm to flip them of the ledge, ending her stupid ustoppable boom.

One of my favorite fights. It's most memorable and significant if you played first two games.

Disagree with that. The whole reason why the Bhaalspawn were killing each other, is because they were competing to become the next Lord of Murder.

In BG3, they're killing each other just because daddy tells them to do so. There's no incentive for them to keep doing it, because even if they do succeed in becoming the favorite child, he'll just make another spawn to eventually usurp them.

Also, the Bhaalspawn were not created to serve as Bhaal's Chosen. They were created specifically to be used as fuel for his resurrection. Now that he's been resurrected, there is no reason for him to continue producing them.

I don't like the Dark Urge story because it conflicts too much with the entire plot of the first two games, and doesn't seem to understand why the Bhaalspawn existed in the first place.
