Orin fight.
I am sorry, but the Orin fight is in no way shape or form fun, it's not even satisfying to beat, just an "jesus christ I am glad I actually won that after 100 reloads." It is solely based on RNG on if you win this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ fight. I have tried everything I can, but the fact she gets her 12 unstoppables back EVERY ROUND is absolutely abysmal, and the fact you can't kill the cultist who are chanting because they are guarded by sanctuary is also stupid. Even more so when you're on Honor mode and you go in like "Well hopefully I beat this in one go :D" If there was a one shot Orin mod, I would download it in a heart beat.

An upcast Magic Missile can chew threw a lot of those Unstoppables. I'd also given Wyll a few levels in fighter so he could Action Surge, and at that level the number of Eldritch Blasts he can throw out is good for tearing her down too. Haste helps too.
If you have ways to Frighten her or otherwise lock her down a bit, you can rip through those Unstoppables and give her a world of pain.

When I beat that fight in version 1.0, Spells that push still worked on the cultist. Thunder waved them all into the void.

I think blind also helped take the edge off Orin's attacks. I remember abusing that status effect a lot in general.

yeah they can be shoved off, but that requires me to spend 6 rounds running around thunder waving them off and that's if they don't save against it. Meanwhile invul Orin is allowed free reign to just slaughter my party by making them fearful, or getting stunned and slowed by the random cultists she has with her as back up.

I think you can get some tricky line-ups to get two at once. I also had Wyll with Eldrich Blast pushing to help.

Not sure if that's the correct way to play that fight, but it worked for me.

Can't target them because they are protected by Sanctuary. Thus making it having to be an AOE, and they are spaced out so you can't hit 2 with Thunder wave.

EDIT: Also forgot to mention the Baahl edict that REQUIRES you to kill someone or you just insta die at the end of your turn. that is applied at the end of each round.

Yeah this fight is absolute Cancer

She can be killed easily in one turn on any difficulty, just use 2 magic missiles with caster who have bonus to initiative (Alert feat or elixir of something, of vigilance?)

Use lots of haste and a lot of upcast magic missile. Also multi-attack monk and action surge/flourish/pommel strike to strip away the unstoppables. Just focus on Orin, don't waste your time on the Bhaalists giving her the power unless you run out of MM.

Maximize your number of attacks from all sources and the fight becomes pretty easy. A couple of MM scrolls to give to your non-casters might help if you have issues getting the total number of attacks in a round for your party over 12.

One other note is Orin is susceptible to falling prone on ice if you want to stop her from jumping around for a bit so you can surround her.

I just did a durge honor mode fight with Orin last night. Super easy as you have the slayer form, not her, and it's just a 1 on 1 duel without all the unstoppables.

What was your build? I've read few reports about failing honour mode runs with this duel, so in my honour durge run I haven't risked dueling her, just entered fight with others (and easily killed her in regular way with removing unstoppables by mm). It appears that her legendary action strikes back with huge damage even if under cc. I guess maybe it's easy to duel her as a slayer with high physical stats?

Yes, this. Easy fight and she's dead within one round. There are other spells besides magic missile that you can use to strip her unstoppable. There's scorching ray and Curriculum of Strategy: Artistry of War. Artistry of War has 6 projectiles. You can only learn this spell from a scroll that's in the basement of Sorcerous Sundries. You can also use a lot of summons here using scrolls. That will extend the round. Make sure your party has See Invisibility active (I always have lots of these potions) because when Orin is dead the minions Sanctuary breaks and they go invisible and move.

Ranger volley skill + black hole tadpole skill makes the Sanctuary guys so easily killed

Bard 11/ Wizard 1. Dump stat on DEX but have it at 18 with the gloves. Also dump on Int but boosted to 17 with warped headband from the orge. Duelist's Prerogative and Bhaalist's Armor (bonus to piercing damage). My first Durge run and full honor mode run and I didn't know there was a risk of a bug like that. TBH I did bring in Minthara before Orin died, glad I did that now.

I figured she couldn't hold back and I saw it was going to be easy fight so I brought Minthara in to get her satisfaction. As soon as I broke the barrier, the unstoppables kicked in but I drank a speed potion with my sorcerer who spammed MM (with phalar and spellsparkler, boots of stormy, callous glow) and after that my monk Lae'zel took her out with the multi-attack before my bard could even get the next blow in.

Or you can play with the Dark Urge, make a war lvl 4/barbarian lvl 8. Duel her solo where she gets 0 unstoppables, turn into your slayer form to soak her deathbringer on honor mode then beat her down in one-two turns. Each turn with this build you can get 5 hits in one turn using speed potion/action surge. EzPz At 12 with amulet of greater health & Tough Feat + Aid lvl 5 you'll have 200 HP without slayer form.

I had one summon entertaining her and all the others trying to survive while hitting the guys in Sanctuary with AOE spells or bombs. It took some turns and I ended up needing to use the Deity's favour from Shadowheart to resuscitate half my party. But it worked. And it was on my first try and without checking any online guides.

For me it was fun.

Now off to Gortash.
I dunno If I was just lucky, but I beated her the first in the whole fight (the first 2-3 turns), Astarion killed her almost alone xD It was fun but It wasn't as much of a challenge for me. I'm sure it will be this 2nd playthrough that now I have a different team composition. :torielsad:
