Is there any reason not to play a tavern brawler monk?
There's so many ways to enhance your unarmed attacks that any other monk build just seems wholly underwhelming by comparison. You melt through HP bars like it's nothing. 4 Elements monks could be cool, but they're so dependent on Ki points that once they run out, they basically become wish.com open hand monks.

they REALLY should've made it for thrown/improvised weapons only and for fist the requirement of being drunk, which last two turns, requires bonus action and lowers your attack roll. It'd still be usefull

They could also make it impossible to do any unarmed or ki attacks of any kind if your hands are actively holding melee weapons, while they're homebrewing all over the place

Trying out different builds, for example?

The tedious boredom of repetition.

Technically... No. It's a good combo.
RPG'ing... I can find one reason NOT to play monks altogether... But that's my choice, anyway.

I can't find a reason to play any monk, tavern brawler, open hand or otherwise.

I never play tavern brawler or monk, and I enjoy the game. You don't *have* to choose the most OP build you can find.

I never role play, and I also never play monks. I have no problem winning fights.

Aren’t dex monks high in the AC defensive aspect.

they are ok, especially humans. You also can do some fun stuff with weapons, i like way of four elements with frost vuln staff and ele adept ice. Its still worse technically than open hand, but at least smth different.

If four elements had analog of mirror image or blur it could be potentially decent tank, otherwise its not, unless you multiclass it.

I currently have Lae'zel as a Tavern Brawler Open Hand Monk wielding a greatsword.

So...eh.
Personally I see it as dependent on how many points in monk you're going to put in.

3 Levels of Monk: 4 Elements is better by a lot.
6 Levels of Monk: Shadow Monk is really good for rogue like characters.
7+ Levels of Monk: Open Hand Tavern Brawler is the best by a fair margin.

Multi-classing is really a LOT of fun in this game, there're like a bajillion different ways you can make your characters and a lot of them will also melt hp bars like TBOH Monk does.

6 levels open hand is best without questions, you get all flurry stuff and most important you get wholesness of body, that ability is mega op if comboed with thief and by itself in general

Idk 9/3 monk Rouge is pretty powerful with that AoE is no joke with enough guys around, even then it's just a free use ki point per turn. I hit 6 guys with it 1 turn wiped them all lol had that Haste so 2 actions and 3 bonus actions rofl

Yeah, small typo, that's 6+ not 7+.

The point remains though, that's how I view the Monk options personally, 3 Monk is 4 Elements' playground, 6 Monk is Shadow's if you're Rogue vibing, 6+ is OH if you're tavern brawling.
