Just downgrade to wearing medium or light armor, problem for you solved. :)

its outright disadvantage, not a -1

and its fine, it doesn't get any bonus to dex, its good for characters who would need it.

lol ... heavy armor give same def as medium + dex xF
Wokelander Jan 31, 2024 @ 3:53pm
It is in fact, not OP.
DYNIA Jan 31, 2024 @ 3:55pm
just wait untill he see that monk got more def without armor than paladin with heavy armor xD

One of, if not the best armor in the game for raw AC numbers is medium armor specifically because it lets you add your Dex mod to AC with no limit.

Honestly the best thing I can say for heavy armor in this game is that it often looks pretty cool
pirate135246 Jan 31, 2024 @ 4:07pm
medium is better throughout the entire game

This is true too and is waaay OP.

That's not "op", that's just system mechanic

yea, except you can dump dex, which is HUGE for alot of builds, yea dex saving throws still big, but you free like 10+ stats, which is massive for any tank, who'd probably use it.
On top of it, while there is powerfull med armor with any dex bonus, it gives nothing more, while heavy armor bonuses still present, like +2 CON etc.

Oh yeah, most heavy armor provides damage resistance, not to say heavy armor mastery on level 4, makes you take like 40-50% less damage for act1, you can also add warding bond to that etc. Heavy armor is very good.

That's beyond debating armor class efficiency though

It is, for med armor to be same or slightly better in AC you need DEX stat, for heavy armor AC you dont need any stat. Whats that if not efficency

the thing is though is that how much those extra stats will be helpful to you, you dump dex down, sure, but you still cant get str above 17, and even if you get con from a 16 to a 17, your not getting any improvement, you then are left putting those stats in a score that isn't really super useful, no matter the class really.

your choice is just a trade off between one saving throw or another at that point.

As i said heavy armor has more perks, like reducing damage including feats, which adds up, so even IF enemy hits you damage reduction is pretty good.

And some stat management allows you avoid ability score feat and focus on more beneficial ones with just +1.

I mean people think heavy armor much worse than medium, but it clearly isnt.

Also a unique medium armor with 17 and Unlimited +ac from dexterity.
Special Heavy armor gets better defensive bonus. One of them has even physical protection.
Special Medium armor gets the best ac. Light armor Is the worst but gets best offensive bonus if you are durge.
