That is one of the reasons why I recommend making a backup as described here

But I am too interested to learn what the error message you get from trying to loading the file.
it reminds me of another issue which seems related but gets effectively ignored.
No message, the save file is not detected by the game.
1/2 the reported errors here are...
Ohh well i tried to cheat and the save file is gone .
I tried to cheat and and i can't reload the file ...
I exited by using ctrl alt delete .... and it broke my game ....
Perhaps ... stop cheating.
I know you are ...
Hm. Yeah, then it is like those other cases.
Try the stuff from this thread, two people had their saves not show up and managed to resolve it.
People leaving players in camp so they can't full party wipe...
trying to kill the game in any variety of ways to beat the file update.
They break their own saves then come to the forums and complain ......
Stop cheating.
Pathetic enough with my 2 monk 2 paladin group ... that im cheating with ....
PC crash just sets you back to the last save the game did.
So after 2 of your characters die ... you crash the game ...
So after you fail a dialogue choice ... you crash the game
So after being caught stealing ... you crash the game ...
then come on the forums and complain about losing honor mode runs.
The point is having a challenge for good players.
The result is .. the worst most cheese group of suckasses crying on the forum
Lmao is using 3/4 party members truly cheating? I of course would never stoop so low as to run 3 stronk priests with competing patrons and a bard/rogue that won't stop forcing them to be a party to my thefts XD
We getting those dice /mostly legit/ - I've wiped 3 times so far, I've paid my dues XD
I was doing a long rest in my camp and when it autosaved, my PC crashed, thats it.
When I opened the game, the campaign was GONE. I still have .lsv file but the game wont read it anymore, the file is corrupted.
You dont know, stop accusing people of cheating, some aren't.
I don't cheat and I don't use mods, I just play as intended.
if I die, I die and ill accept that. I died on my first try and that's fine. You should be able to continue the campaign in normal mode if you die, but mine is completely gone, NADA, no campaign. Id be happy to just get my saving file back in working order even without the honor mode.
