Honour Mode Save Disappeared

I just started the game and wanted to continue my Honour mode Run.
But before loading the save game i got into the settings and turned down the max. quick safe states to save some space.
But when i left the settings and wanted to load my save it just wasnt there.
(When closing Honour mode the game saves itself so i think it was a normal save game)

So did i just accidentaly delete my Save game? Is there a way to get back my Save?

Press windows key + R
Paste in the following line and hit enter
%localappdata%\Larian Studios\Baldur's Gate 3\PlayerProfiles\Public\Savegames\Story
Check the folders, if there isn't one with a name that just seems like a random string of numbers and letters with a file named "HonourMode.lsv" your save is gone.

Are you using steam cloud? First of all, I would make a copy of those files and put them somewhere else as backup though.

Yes im using steam cloud and i already made a backup.
I also let steam check the game files for any errors and the game seems to be normal

Hm, it's worth a try but I can't guarantee success..
Start a new honour mode campaign, then immediately after making it into the start of the tutorial, quit out. There should be a new folder in the file path i pointed you towards, replace both files in there with copies of the backup you made. Maybe that'll work, I don't know.

Sorry :( Maybe forcing a steam cloud sync by turning it off and back on is an option?

I messed a bit with the saves and did the Steam cloud thing and it worked!!!

Eyy, no problem! Steam cloud was my last resort because I have heard plenty of reports of it eating peoples saves trough sync issues, glad it could restore yours! :D

Any chance you could tell me exactly what you did? I've tried what Recjawjind has said and I'm having no luck

Same problem for me, save just disappeared, there's no folder in save files with this run. So much time lost...

I feel you. Was in Act 3 about to hit lvl 12 ;c;

I have managed to sort it
Had to retrieve the save from steams cloud save and put it in a new folder in %localappdata%\Larian Studios\Baldur's Gate 3\PlayerProfiles\Public\Savegames\Story. Make sure the file and the folder have the same name e.g. the folder might be Honour and the file would be Honour.lvs
If that lets you open the save, save your game, exit and you should see a new folder that seems to be a long string of random letters and numbers. Keep that folder but you should be able to delete the one you retrieved safely.

I hate the fact that on honor mode the game seems to save at different times compared to on other modes.

maybe you can turn off auto saves, i did in my first playthrough and Honour never saves randomly for me.
