Is it possible to get minthara in your party without killing off the grove?

As of latest Update #5, yes.
  • Commit a crime next to her
  • Knock her out
  • Then immediately after kill Priestess Gut and Ragzlin
If you wish to know more there's a thread about it as well; PSA - How To Recruit Minthara In A Good Playthrough

What kind of crime are we talking about here? Any suggestions?

Just steal the map in front of her for example. That way she won't even lose any attitude towards you.

Just hit her over the head, but make sure not to kill any goblins in her line of sight, she has to get knocked out first.
Knock her out unga bunga style, find her in prison later, break her out.

Attack her in melee non lethal. Not spell or ranged because they kill.

The trick is to get her into a "Temporarily Hostile" state (which will be noted when targeting her once it happens).

Hitting her or taking things in her view or near her will turn her temporarily hostile. Killing anyone around her before she's knocked out might turn her fully hostile. Killing Dror before she's knocked out will turn her fully hostile.

You can also skip the whole spiel by ignoring both the grove and temple in Act 1. (I headed straight for the mountain pass and went right into Act 2 from there.) The grove will lock down, but what happened to the Tieflings is anyone's guess. The goblins in Act 2 will act like you befriended them at the temple. Minthara will be in Act 2.

Thanks. Now I can get knocked up without having to deal with Shadowheart's cockblocking and cinematic transitions LOL

Do something bad to make her "temporarily hostile". Then use a "soft hammer" on her. For bonus lulz, strip her of all equipment after. That way when you encounter her next, the cut-scene looks different.

Where does she show up then? I knocked her out, but she is not in the goblin cutscene at moonrise, and she's not in the cell below.

I reloaded my save now and retraced my steps. People ITT kept saying "Temporarily hostile" but my dialogue choices made her proper hostile. I take it that was a mistake and I wasted 25 hours of playtime that way?

She was even mentioned in the dialogue by the goblins, but she's gone?

That was the mistake. Temporarily hostile is a specific thing. You don't talk to her, you steal something in front of her which makes her 'temporarily hostile' and then use non-lethal attacks to knock her out. Then kill off the other 2 before long-resting.

I don't understand the reason behind this distinction.
