That's like asking, why can't I play as a worker ant, devoid of any individuality?
Uhh, there IS a path to the Absolute winning. And, it makes sense. So, if you wanted to RP as a thrall to the Absolute up to that point, you could do that 100%.
You're kidding, right? How is it not a 'real' ending? What are the criteria? Who makes that judgement since the developers actually put it in the game and provided a way to actually RP as a thrall to the Absolute through the whole game?
Well, but it's not a very story-deep route, is it? They reasoned in one interview that giving more alternative content for evil playthroughs would take away from the desolation of it, but I'm calling bulls..t, it was just an easier, more lazy route. Similarly to your question, why can't I have my trusty little gobbo friends around in Act 2, or even Act 3? There are so many ways to involve them in the story.
I think it relates to most players playing the good route. And therefore that's where more resources are allocated. But here is a question. Isn't the reason for most players playing the good route the lack of content on the evil one?
Nope, I do not. What you are postulating is that if it does not meet YOUR criteria, then it is not a 'real' ending. Even if it meets the developers intent.
But, let us agree to disagree. :)
You do have a valid point of view and it is worth taking into consideration.
I've seen it with my own eyes, can confirm that it exists and is therefore real.
