Why can't I play as a thrall to the Absolute
like, why? I like squids. I wanna fight for the absolute. She seems like a nice bloke. Give us players the option. I'm at the end of act 2 and it seems it's going to be another boring good defeats evil kinda story.

You can absolutely (Ha-Ha) do that. But it will end your game fairly prematurely as bowing to the Absolute means there is no one to stop it.

The evil routes are all undercooked. I have the theory that they planned this to be an option but had to scrap it because they could not finish that plotline in time
Because you wouldn't have any agency, thus you wouldn't be playing.

That's like asking, why can't I play as a worker ant, devoid of any individuality?

That's not true, you totally would have agency, it is just that, they would have to re-write all of ACT 3 to make sense for an Absolute ending.

Uhh, there IS a path to the Absolute winning. And, it makes sense. So, if you wanted to RP as a thrall to the Absolute up to that point, you could do that 100%.

It's obviously not a real ending.

You're kidding, right? How is it not a 'real' ending? What are the criteria? Who makes that judgement since the developers actually put it in the game and provided a way to actually RP as a thrall to the Absolute through the whole game?

You can, up to a point. Then the story demands you to hand over an item that is integral for you keeping your free will, so either keep it or become an NPC.

Well, but it's not a very story-deep route, is it? They reasoned in one interview that giving more alternative content for evil playthroughs would take away from the desolation of it, but I'm calling bulls..t, it was just an easier, more lazy route. Similarly to your question, why can't I have my trusty little gobbo friends around in Act 2, or even Act 3? There are so many ways to involve them in the story.
I think it relates to most players playing the good route. And therefore that's where more resources are allocated. But here is a question. Isn't the reason for most players playing the good route the lack of content on the evil one?

Maybe because the game hasn't been written to do so?

No, your kidding, mate. Because getting game over screen is not a true ending unless it is actually at the end of the game. Last Chapter, final mission, you feel me ?!

Nope, I do not. What you are postulating is that if it does not meet YOUR criteria, then it is not a 'real' ending. Even if it meets the developers intent.

But, let us agree to disagree. :)

You do have a valid point of view and it is worth taking into consideration.

I've seen it with my own eyes, can confirm that it exists and is therefore real.

Why work for the Absolute when you can BE the Absolute?
