*SPOILERS* Did you consume the astral tadpole?
Did you? And why?
Can I choose not to become a mindflayer at the end still?

It's worth it for fly and blackhole alone. I figure, so what, my character is ugly until the end then he can go back to being his beautiful elven self for the rest of his life.

no its most stupid thing you can do unless u want to turn into ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ mindflayer. most of the act1 and act2 major quests are about getting rid of the tadpole not ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ enhance it

Yes. I play as the Dark Urge with a redeeming character arch with love interest Karlach but always take the astral tadpole. Even though it changes the look of your character, it fits the character. Plus in the ending you character will not have the ink marks.

Tell me you didn't finish the game without telling me you didn't finish the game.

You can still refuse at the end, doesn't matter.

Yes, I wanted to be able to fly without potions.

Only my Tav though, not the companions.

For RP reasons, no, not unless my character is power hungry - even an evil playthrough it won’t always make sense. I don’t use any of the tadpoles, my characters tend to be cautious about losing their identity or dying and outside of knowing it has no effect in game there are a lot of hints and lore indicating it’s a terrible idea to consume a tadpole, let alone one manipulated with ancient and powerful magic.

Also I find the powers are unnecessary. By act 3 the combination of class powers/spells and the insanely powerful items you find are enough to carry the rest of the game.

That's where I'm on the fence as well because I'm playing as a dark urge Paladin (haven't broken oath a single time) and i'm resisting the urge throughout the campaign.
I have been using tadpole powers and they have been really helpful, so getting more of that definitely isn't bad.

But my character isn't evil. Not willingly at least.

Embrace the squid for MORE POWER!

No one cares how you look when you stomp them into the ground. :cozycrashfish:

No.

You get cool powers, sure, but I just don't like the dark veins visible on my beautifully-created Tav's face. (And no, I won't be installing mods just to remove that veiny parts)

I do it when it feels right for the character. So far, I have in every playthrough. One figured if she had to sacrifice herself to save the world, then that's what would happen. The party could kill her afterwards. Another because she already had one in her head and was going to turn into a mindflayer if they failed no matter what. She didn't feel like she was risking anything. The current one is hoping to be less at risk if she only has the one. (and is early in the game so she's hoping for a cure).
