You can shove Ethel into the pit she's trying to drop the girl into.
It's not a punishment, it's an opportunity to find even more creative ways to win!
Dude, a vampire with all of his powers dying from being knocked off a ledge is a bad vampire. If I could turn into mist I'd jump off of all sorts of things and change right before I hit the ground.
The update makes sense to me.
I was thinking about this, and while the Fly spell is a full action, there's also this to consider:

The question is, can a character take an action (any action), while midair, falling? I mean, D&D is a turn based game, but when someone is falling, do they just instantly teleport to the ground and take full falling damage, or should there be some kind of calculation (that then slows down gameplay) determining how long it takes to hit the ground, and thus how many actions they can take before this happens?
I mean, this is basically why Feather Fall is a reaction spell, amirite?
I think spells like Fly could be turned into ritual spells if used out of combat, reactions if used during combat. Also, I wish they granted actual flight, and not Larian's stupid "big jump" interpretation.
I don't think the point is about how easy it is or not, it's just that people hate having things taken away from them.
This person obviously used shoving Cazzie into a pit before, and thought that was pretty cool, but now that it's gone, he misses it.
Rules Lawyers, that's who.
The kind of people who hate having fun.
