That would be a huge blueball moment, from how hyped they both were in the trailer.
Actually they confirmed minsc will join the party, but he wont have a mind flayer parasite and thus wont be origin character. Jaheira tho seems to be mearly npc based on her ”we can only hope next generation takes up our mantle when we get too old for this” (paraquoting)
Never mind both can be recruited: https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/the-time-to-play-baldurs-gate-3-is-nigh-with-full-release-due-in-august-2023
Hyped to appear in the game yes, but why would they be companions? They should be level 20 by now..
I also think we'll get a ton of camp followers but no more companions other than this set.
As far as the rest, we have no idea really. Larian is not very forthcoming with regard to potential companions. I guess they see it as a story spoiler. But, I don't think it's any more spoiling than revealing one of the Big Bad Evil Guys, which they've already done.
Ah, the aspect of WotC I pay no attention to, that would explain it. That does simplify things for me, since my choice for my PC was between barbarian or paladin.
