Honestly though - I wouldn't bother too much. With the way fast travel and camp is implemented I see absolutely no reason to just not pick up everything worth even 10 coins and then selling it. So gold is of no consequence in this game, I end Act 1 usually with 15k of free gold and all the best items I could ever want from the traders.
In general you could just buy everything you need and then use one of your companions as thief and steal the gold back and that's it. Do that with every trader you need something from.
You can take a long rest for them to replenish gold.
You can also send all gear you don't need now but will sell later to the camp. And then just TP to camp and back to grab it when you actually plan to sell it.
Long resting doesn't refresh the gold reserve of the Sorcerous Sundries vendor or is it still below 6k?
Their gold resets after a long rest.
Then you make them poor again.
Tried several non vendor NPCs(mostly nobles and the Madam at Sharess' Caress) but seems none of them carry such sums. I'm currently in the part of the Stone Lord quest that I don't have access to a peaceful Guildhall to try there as well but maybe check to see if Nine Fingers, the guy that buys the keys or the Zhent agents there have such a sum on them? Or maybe Glitterbeard at the Counting House but he died for me.
