It's like the DM be like "I have this plot-critical item that is RIGHT there and you just kept skipping it, so fine. FINE. It just magically flies into your inventory, are you happy yet, mister lonely murderhobo?!" XD
Not entirely true, several of what I assume to be Gale's quest regarding the wizzard in the tower bleeds into your other quests lines even though he is stuck in the portal.
My character even once remarked 'this is the book gale wanted, we should show it to him'.
While it's highly confusing it doesn't break the game per say - well unless ofc that him 'missing' is the reason I can no longer progress the Voss quest line
You WILL have that box.
What makes the Goblin fortress so special, that going there specifically, require protection, isn't explained at all. I guess reasons.
Shart, the vampire, the frog and Wyll are all dead on mine, the rest I just didn't pick up. Well, I picked up Gales hand.
We are in the city now and no problems.
Aside from the book in the tower. Which is that I just can't complete the side quest, 12 anyway so not a big deal. I think that bit of dialog to "let gale know" is a bug.
In the beginning of Act III, there's a cat you see on a rooftop that triggers the remark "That look's like Gale's cat"
We hated Gale on our run, so we didn't bother with him after we got Minthara.
Just had a hard time with The Harpies.

It's happened when we have left him in the rock, when I've cut off his hand, and when I've run him out of the party. but aside from nonsensical out of place pc statements its not broken the game.
You can play this game with 4 custom Tavs in mutiplayer, which would leave no room for origin party members, and still compete the game.
Yes, some side quest will be closed off as they were origin based, the book, Sharts parents, ect. None of those quest have anything to do really with the rest of the game and don't have a huge impact on experience gain.
You can still save the Nightsong and still kill Cazador. The only difference is the lack of origin drama llamas and a few broken lines of dialog.
