Don't forget to click on the "Ball" in your inventory and throw it to make him happy.

Really? He's only given me a ball and bone. Still wouldn't trade him for anything.

If he dies when you summon him is he permanently dead? Or can you just resummon him?

He react only to "his" ball. The other balls (with the same name and description) do nothing. I tried to throw him a bone and he didn't react. This should be repaired!!! More bones (and meat) for best boi!

You can resummon him once every short rest.

And yes, he's a really good boi. :) In Act 3 he's pointing out buried chests with no possible survival- or perception-rolls for humanoid party members. So you would have no hint for finding them if it wasn't for the bestest boi in Faerûn.
