You only have 2 spells per short rest but you always cast at max level
Also Eldritch Blast is a strong cantrip, even more if you can push people down the ledges with it
But it’s more complicated to build than fighters/ barrbarians and often you want to multi class a few levels into sorc or Paladin for max damage output .
At lvl 5 with repelling blast and agonizing blast you get 2 beams of Eldridge blast which combined with hex does great range damage and can push enemies into oblivion
Or with 2 lvls of paladin you get 2 supercharged divine strikes per short rest .
Plus they are charisma based so great at being the leader of the team as they get easy time in persuasion and trade.
I always make Wyll a 10 warlock / 2 paladin and he is great
In 5e, warlocks get some really interesting features at higher levels, but BG3 stops at level 12. The devs made up for that by adding magical items that vastly boost damage or spell save DC. Items that say they add charisma to damage stack with Agonizing Blast, for monstrously strong Eldritch Blasts.
Not exactly true, its just most obvious and lazy way to play it. Warlock is an INSANE hp tank with his armor spell and fiend spec, pact weapon makes him into pretty decent attacker, plus you have quite a few tricks left, hex is good, heck even fireball can make a difference here and there. Plus with minion gloves from act1 you can make pretty annoying chain pact, though you most like end up EB'ing with that one
The biggest problem is that their Invocation system is under developed.
Invocations should be much more important. Warlocks should get more of them, and there should be more to choose from. Particularly at-will casts.
