I already destroyed the duergar in grymforge by the ol "oops my finger slipped" shove nonsense and then realising that they probably had some interesting stuff on them so I've gone back and decided to be abit more selective with my push party. Unfortuantely it seems i can't really do this anymore. the little blue line refuses to move over the edge even with the enemy right beside it. I can shove them halfway across the room, and into the lava but not into the chasms. is this a change or a save/me problem? This is specifically out of combat.

Works fine for me... just need enough of a push. Weaker pushes dont push heavy things as far... Ive had a Barb throw them like footballs.

Easier when enlarged/ using Colossus elixir

Depending on where you are it seems a little harder. I had to try like 15 times to push the eye over the edge on one spot, where in another spot on a different campaign it went first shot.

The other real problem i've noticed is even with Wyll and the upgraded eldrich blast which can push enemies back 17ft, even with the beside a chasm, the just get knocked prone by the edge

Can confirm you cannot shove into chasms anymore. It gives a red line meaning it will not push them back. This is with shoving and the eldritch blast invocation.

I'm surprised by the number of people who like losing loot via chasms. I never do it because I want that phat loot.

I just noticed this as well. Why on earth did Larien do this? It was such a excellent part of the game. I built Karlach and wyrll all around shoving enemies.

I tried to push laezel into the chasm on the starting ship, but couldn't xD
