Getting resistance to every damage type except psionic sounds cool, until the last part of chapter 3, where you're fighting an army of psionic enemies. Also, driving your own summons mad can backfire if you try to upcast them to be stronger, and suddenly they're turning against you.
Unfortunately, summon builds in this game are kind of terrible. I'm told Necromancers are the better option to go with. And if Glut being able to reanimate a Bulette with his spores was any indication of their potential, then I'd believe it.
