Special powers = 1, usable once per long rest
And you get to massacre innocent people (offscreen), alienate some companions (= kill them) just by being around, and bathe literally in blood. It is "the" murderhobo route.
In general I can do without it after having played both ways. However, a huge plus is how you get rid of Gale when meeting him. That is one of the most satisfying kills for the dark urge. And gives you a key for act 3 :)
Anyone who has ever sat down for Dnd More than once knows who THAT guy is.
There is a single murder offscreen, and later you must decide between sacrificing a companion or a mass murder (although you might think is is just another single kill). I don't think you can get out of either of those two. And doing the mass killing also breaks several quests off before their finish.
It is the canon origin for your character, and actually ties the game to the previous 2
That's not true. Only a single kill in the entire game is unavoidable, anything else is not required
its like playing the toxic jerk, and doing evil things for evils sake. its not the organized evil that id hope for like building the Church of Bane and promoting evil in a systematic way. its being toxic for toxicitys sake, since they chose the wrong evil.
When Gale sticks his hand out of the teleport stone, you can cut his hand off.
I just finished it.
Two choices ..are you going to go with your urges or fight those urges? Decide before you play.
I played a warlock and went with the urges, the "dark side" of the story for the dark urge is more suited for the Assassin. I suggest trying 8 Assassin/ 4 Gloom Stalker Ranger.
Being a toxic evil is completely on player, Dark Urge story itself does not forces you, I would say it's the opposite instead. And it's pretty bad if you decide to be evil, bad as in boring as hell and yes, as you said, just unimaginative toxic evil
