Can you do both the Underdark and Mountain Pass in one playthrough?
So in my first playthrough I think I went too far with the ch2 plot because when I went to the mountain pass it just told me that I have more important things to deal with right now, but I remember finding the passage earlier and being prompted that I am "progressing my adventure" and asked if I'm sure I want to go.

Is it safe to go underdark > Cursed road > Mountain pass or would that lock me out of completing the ch2 Moon towers plot or break something else for me? Is there any sequence of actions that lets you experience all there is both in the underdark and the mountain pass?

Underdark is still part of act 1 so yes. Mountain pass too is also I think, although going there resolves the grove questline, albeit you can go back and see the results. Correct me if I'm wrong. You don't actually enter act 2 until you reach the shadowlands.

Yes.

Yes you can, I did Underdark first, then walked to MOuntain pass from the Dark Lands, not realising Mountain Pass was still act 1

The warning at mountain pass is misleading, the only thing that happens is that the Tieflings leave the Grove. Do the mountain pass it's one of my favourite parts of Act 1, then you can backtrack and finish the underdark.

yes. go do the underdark until you get done with nere. There is an elevator. instead of using that, go to the mountain pass instead.

They leave the grove when you enter grymforge as well.

Yes. I normally go to the mountain pass, do the creche thing, then go back to the underdark and take it from there,

You can do both mountain pass and the underdark, just don’t enter the shadowlands until you fully explore everything and complete every quest because you won’t be able to return to any chapter 1 location after you start chapter 2 by entering the shadowlands. This is not an open world game.

I highly recommend doing the Underdark first, including the Grymforge — up to the moment you are given the chance to enter the “door.” The game will warn you about entering. Do not enter. Go back and do the mountain pass, monastery, gith crèche etc.
After that you may enter the shadowlands.

Just don't go through the elevator.

It's so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ dumb. I went through the elevator. I assumed it would be a you can only do one OR the other in a single playthrough kind of deal.

Again, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ dumb.

Also, don't make my mistake, and be sure to do Underdark before the Defend/Raid The Grove quest.

When I made it through the Underdark and entered Shadowlands, I still was able to go back to the mountain pass

I was mostly through the Shadowlands already before going back and doing all of the mountain pass zone. You can pretty much do the mountain pass any time before getting to the Moonrise Towers, I think.

Why do it before?
