If I play as a dragonborn am I now a scalie in real life?

I don't want to be a scalie, a subclass of furry. What will my purist furry friends think of me? How can I recover from this? Why aren't there tabaxi in the game?

The only two races in the game that aren't in the PHB are Drow and Githyanki. Both of those inclusions make a lot of sense within the story of BG3 (Underdark and Illithid sworn enemies) .

Tabaxi, however cool I think it would be since I did play a Tabaxi Monk at one point, would be a LOT of work to add in. I think their time would be better spent shoring up the game proper.

Yea I understand we aren't getting any new races or classes, because that would mean tons of new recorded dialogue for the reactivity they would bring. Plus you would need new NPCs for these races and classes because it would be boring being the only one of your race/class in the whole game.

But maybe for an expansion built from the ground up for these new things. Failing that the inevitable sequel (no way in hell they aren't making a BG4 at some point with this game being a massive success even among the mainstream).

Playing the game in Early Access I was pretty intrigued by the dragonborn's human form (cut from full release.) So I tried playing one.

Imagine my surprise when 6 months later my wife laid an egg.

3 years ago there were meta tags(and really tags) for some bestial races found by datamining. The bestial tags had the following races:
Kenku
Lizardfolk
Arakocra
Tabaxi
Tortle
There has been no followup by anyone(to my knowledge) on if these tags are still present in the full game but at the time they didn't really link to anything, however they would show up in game if applied and had unique reactions from NPCs.

Don't hold out hope that we actually get them officially. But if the tags still exist they will make modded races more easily supported by the game and characters in game when official tools for modding get released.

BG3 has spoiled me. It isn't enough to simply play as the race, I want the unique reactivity for my race, for characters to acknowledge and react to my race and unique racial dialogues.
