This. Lots of people, myself included, went there as part of shadowhearts side quest. Not knowing it intersected into the main quest.
Also for the warning, 2 things:
1 - it says 'some' quests may be missed by doing this. We have no clue which ones, some don't fail here but rather continue on to Act 3, some fail here. There is no clear warning which is which.
2 - this message was also given when entering the mountain pass creche area and guess what? It was useless. There story didn't go on, quests didn't fail, literally nothing happened and you could go back just fine. So the messages are inconsistent.
They DO... but only Act endings have, so far, mentioned that it will close off some sidequests and areas... yes? Did it once already.... they really gave the examples.
Go ahead... follow Lae's sidequest... then try to go back and do the grove quests after they warned us.
He simply clicked the button the way people click "accept" on other annoying popups...
Which is how users accidentally install malware, incidentally. Users are the most unreliable part of any network.
You can travel back and forth between Act 1 and 2 freely, but once you enter Act 3, that's the point of no return. You're stuck in the city for the rest of the game, so you should wrap up everything else before proceeding to Baldur's Gate.
In this game it is fine not to do everything. You can miss a lot and get to level 12. That is good! There are several ways the game can end and the path to the end can be different.
Its worth saving the Tieflings if you have Wyll in your party or are a Warlock. As a reward you get a robe that is VERY, VERY useful for a Warlock and indeed Wyll wore it for the rest of the game.
So I ran into the exact problem and was really upset like the main poster. Thankfully, I keep TONS of static save points for just this reason. I did NOT enjoy having to replay a few hours of progress, but trust me -- if you are a Warlock or use Wyll often in your party -- its worth it.
Exactly. Thank you.
Is this 'robe' you get for saving the tieflings the same one you get for following orders and killing Karlach when you first meet?
We approached the Mausolem and I figured it was the way to advance her quest in this chapter. The warning message I got before entering the Shadowfell I took to mean it would change plot elements related to Shadowheart. I had no inkling it would mean I couldn't do a certain part of the Moonrise towers quest.
I think it might be. I haven't done the route where you spare Karlach instead, but I've seen clips to know that Wyll is punished for his defiance by transforming into a partial devil.
If you follow orders, however, his patron gives you a new set of armor the first time you meet her.
My thoughts exactly.
It is called the Potent Robe. it is +1 ac, and grants a bonus damage to the caster's cantrips equal to their charisma bonus. (stacks with Antagonising blast fyi).
I did the same thing.
But the warning was clear enough that I was risking some quests failing.
So, I manually saved before entering, and then as soon as I cleared it and saw the rescue quests immediately failed, I reloaded and left it until later.
I don't get how someone can keep going for "many hours" after the shadowfell before checking.
