And simply uninstalling the game from Steam does not delete all the files. You have to sift through your computer and manually delete the folder / files related to BG3.
Just to be extra certain I got everything wiped, I even deleted the Larian Launcher folder, which was reinstalled along with BG3.
After doing all of that, and flushing my recycle bin, it seemed to finally clear up any corrupted files which were caused due to problems with any big patches.
RevoUninstaller advanced options makes that easy peasy.
If you tried everything, then lean back and enjoy.
Vortex is an issue in itself, often enough. In doubt, consult the mod author.
To get there:
Open explorer and put %localappdata% into the address bar and execute it. From there, navigate to:
\Larian Studios\Baldur's Gate 3\PlayerProfiles\Public
The modsettings.lsx file is in the Public directory. Once deleted, renamed, or moved out, the game will recreate the proper one when it is started. Note that the Launcher will not recreate it; the game itself will do so.
All involved must have no mods and also follow this process or there will be a mismatch.
Good Luck
