But basicaly, its a question of balance, your mage needs a fighter when he runs out of spell slots and that happens a lot (forget BG3 where you are supposed to do a long rest after every encounter In a pen&paper game you are going to rest before a dungeon and after, so conserving your spellslots is a must. For that you need some "melee" classes). But noone want to play a fighter if they are completely useless and even a dozen mages who can cast meteor are going to run into a problem without a warrior. Its just like healers in MMOS, you could not play without a healer, today every class is strong enough to solo everything, for a reason.
But the Terminator does those things with even less justification and everyone loves him.
Terminator was a villain in the first movie, and they made him start off doing the same things in the second movie to keep the audience in suspense. Terminator from the second movie also had the excuse of starting out with no emotions or understanding of humanity.
I was worried he would get pissed when he found out Jaheira was dead but he was cool.
Maybe it was a bug?
Terminator was a soulless machine who's only purpose was to exterminate human life, until he was reprogrammed to protect John Conner. Over the course of the movie, he gradually develops a better understanding of humans, thanks to the boy's teachings.
Captain Marvel has no such excuse. She's a living, breathing, thinking human being. Regardless of whatever experiments were done on her by the Kree. And if her personality in the Avengers movie was anything to go by, it seems she never develops as a better person by the end of it, because she basically told the earth to go ♥♥♥♥ itself while she was handling problems off screen.
Definitely a bug. I was forced to kill Minsc, even after doing non-lethal on him and killing everyone else off.
I was disappointed when after drinking a potion of speak with animals, I still couldn't communicate with Boo.
To ease my disappointment, I proceeded to kill Boo, pick up his corpse, and stuffed it in the pocket of Orin's mother in the temple of Bhaal.
Whether the character develops later on isn't important. The clothes and motorcycle scene is generally viewed as a "cool" scene when the Terminator is doing it. But a woman does it and you jump to "sociopath".
"Never develops as a better person" because she is too busy saving lives to come back to earth?
Yeah, you're clearly not judging her differently because she's a woman.
No, them getting better development has everything to do with it. Being an unmitigated ass in the first half of the movie can be forgiven if the character learns to be a better person later.
Also, Terminator was butt naked and had no money, so he's got a reasonable excuse to steal some guy's clothes.
Captain Marvel had absolutely no excuse. Her actions in that movie were completely over the line. All the guy was doing was being a little strong in his attempts to hit on her, and she responded by crippling his arm, stealing his vehicle, and robbing a nearby store. Nick Fury was trying to ask what her powers were, she demonstrated by reaching over the table and firing an energy blast to destroy a juke box behind him.
A simple "I can fire energy beams" would have sufficed!

Anyways, the point stands that I don't care if Lae'zel was a man or a woman. She is written as a Githyanki, and she behaves appropriately as such. Even if she is hyper aggressive and constantly talks down to everybody else in camp, I still consider her a well written character.
