racial stats
is anyone else irritated that they changed it from early access so that it doesn't matter what race you choose cause you can put the extra stats wherever you want?? It just bugs me that i can play a dwarf and get the racial bonuses of a wood elf. also would be nice to have the either the human plus 1 to all stats or the human variant that gets you an extra feat at level 1

Ummm this is dangerously close to being racist.

Just like in real life, everyone is the same. There are no differences. That's why diversity is a strength.

I could cast fairy balls with all races … nerf
Go play pathfinder if you want all that.
WoTC/5e got rid of that eugenics program.

I understand your brain rationalizes it with the old, but you're also indoctrinated because that's all you know. Until you're 45, it's easy to retrain the brain to learn something new.

Best thing you can do is suck it up and adapt to the new ways.
If you cannot, there's plenty of Pathfinder an doldschool DnD games out there for you to play.

Perhaps maybe a mod for bg3 will be made, who knows.

the nerf to humans was brutal.

The stats don't make races unique, they just hinder what classes work with which races.

The rest of the radials give distinction, but forcing the Dwatf to have +Con and +Str just means people didn't play Dwarf Rogues, Clerics, Bards, etc.
Or just don't change them and play your game with what racial stats "they should be" ever think about that? It's a roll playing game. Of that's how you want to roll play it.. do it..

They could just give Humans something actually useful instead of the useless carrying capacity (just teleport to your camp and stash the loot there). Doesn't have to be the bonus feat if that's too strong. How about two additional skill proficiencies instead.

And maybe also change the bonus Weapon and Armor Proficiencies for something else, those tend to go to elves, dwarves and such because they are associated with certain types of weapons, like elves with a Longbow. Humans have so many varied cultures that it doesn't really work to represent all of them.

Seriously, the human abilities are underwhelming compared to the others, even in comparison to Half-Elves who share half of them.

The carrying capacity doesn't even fit, that seems more like something the dwarves would have.

narratively based on size alone a gnome probably isn't going to be as strong as a half orc.

that said, it's better for gameplay to let players freely assign stats, it lets people play the races they want and not be constrained by stat bonuses that make their race/class combo "bad"

though I believe dwarves are actually nerfed because of this, one of their subraces get +2con/+2str, now they get the standard +1/+2., humans too with the +1 to all/bonus feat

I am exactly the same as you

It kind of makes no sense why a warrior of one race would be less strong than a warrior of another race, same goes for every class/race combo and it's respective stat. You either specialize in that class as a character of this world or you don't. And a smaller character having the same strength as a larger character makes sense, it's a fantasy world with magic and dragons. Otherwise there would never be any strength based characters that are small races because "they're too small" to do it.

Yes this is true, im glad someone finally said it. if you think the average orc is stronger than the average gnome, you are a racist. Halflings are also just as strong as Dragons, any disagreement would be nothing but bigotry.

Except for the fact that the characters in the game, including yours, are very very far from "normal" sure, ok.

The issue with stats being tied to race is that it limits the race options for people who enjoy optimizing themselves for combat. If you give Dwarves +5 extra stats or something then a majority of people would play Dwarf solely for those bonuses. We already have certain boons with certain races being able to excel at different weapons, armor, traits, etc. We DON'T need stats to be defined by race on top of that.

You can still make the high dex low con elf, or the high con low charisma dwarf, or whatever existed before Tasha's Cauldron.

I thought gamers liked options.
