My grandparents would be utterly appalled by the stuff in this game. I told my parents about the bear thing and the look on their faces was just blank disgust (and my parents are open minded liberals). I tried to explain that the bear is actually a "druid", but they were like "what?"

Should we take a step back and reflect on where we are going as a society? What is the end result with all this stuff?

i haven't bought or played the game. i told them that i didn't buy it after hearing about the zoophilia. why would i give money to a company that promotes human/animal intercourse?

The bear thing is fine, in a vacuum at least. It's Larian following druids' ability to wild shape to its logical conclusion. The living world Pathfinder game I play in has reached a fairly similar conclusion regarding druids, to the point where the lore is that they're a bunch of degenerates whose tendency to spend long periods in animal form steadily muddles their minds until they're a bunch of animal-diddling deviants.

The problem is the immature way in which Larian and just about every other developer handles romance, with the sort of giggling glee a hormonal teenager thinks of it. Platonic friendships don't exist, everyone wants a piece of you, every conversation is about one flirty sentence away from sex, and you can have anyone you like if you just say/do the right things to tick the requisite boxes.

Particularly jarring after the comparatively sensible writing of the real Baldur's Gate series. Many of your party had relationships of their own that didn't revolve around you, the few that potentially had an interest in the PC had their own preferences, the relationship would build steadily over time rather than have you both in bed faster than the average drunken one-night-stand. It wasn't perfect and I accept it wasn't especially inclusive, but it at least felt like it was written by a functioning adult.

My professional opinion is that someone in charge of developing this game has some serious sexual deviancy that they are projecting on the game and team. The inclusion of bestiality, the ability to harm and kill children, these aren't revolutionary, they're the hallmarks of a deviant and sociopath.

I have been playing excessively violent video games since the days when TV's operated on switch dials.

3 1/2 decades later, and I can proudly say I have not gone on a homicidal killing spree in real life.

Video games are not the source of the problem. If anything, they serve as an outlet for people to vent their problems without actually hurting anybody.

Except for hurting their feelings in voice chat, I guess.
