Who is Withers?

So I finished the game and saw the video after the end credits. Now I am quite confused on who is Withers? I am not too much in DnD or BG lore so wondering if somebody can explain that bit to me.

Withers is the original god of death, Jergal, in disguise. Its why he is basically all powerful but also not too influential in the events of the story, but rather just a passing breeze that blows you in a certain direction. You can find this out by using the context clues of various tomes in his crpyt and whatnot

its heavily implied that he is "Jergal, the Lord of the End of Everything" one of the figures from the older Baldurs Gate games.

He's Jergal but my headcanon is that he is the desiccated remains of live action Skeletor from the ill fated 1987 film, played by Frank Langella. Having returned wiser, immortal, and more indifferent to our shenanigans.

As other's have stated he is Jergal, the OG God of Death,Murder, and Strife who GAVE his powers to the Dead Three out of sheer boredom. He still has a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of power and has served every subsequent god of Death as their Seneschal.

He basically while not allowed to "directly" intervene is aiding the party in stopping the plot of the Dead Three.

I reckon he can't be Jergal purely because there's no way a god who has had their domain stripped and divided is just hanging out in a sarcophagus waiting for a random adventurer to let him out. I think he is devoted to Jergal but gods in Forgotten Realms don't just limit themselves like that.
