update keeps verifying then update paused

how do i fix this to launch the game?
says hit resume then it tries to verify then just goes back to resume. same happens when try to verify integrity of files. in the library tab it says disk read error?

Try clearing some space on the disk.
Especially if you tried some of the save "fixes" that floated around earlyer today, if so you might need a full games worth of free space. As the depos won't match what's expected.

Not shure if the fix earlyer today was legit or not, but it's like solving a puzzle upside down, and rarly used for other than datamining on the consumer side, as we don't really got the index :p

I still have over 200GB free on my drive and I get the same error. I found a thread that talked about Repairing your Steam Folder (Steam -> Settings -> Storage -> ... (right-side of the folder location) -> Repair Folder. That allowed me to do the Update and then launch the game.

thx for response ill try that next patch lol.. I had to unintall and reinstalled while at work seemed to update it. But ill def keep this in mind

I would certainly recommend doing an integrity scan on your HDD/SSD, whichever you are using. Always take a "...disk read error..." very seriously. Just because it installed ok this time does not mean the drive is 100% ok.

You can use this next time. That would save you the re-downloading if repairing the library folder does not suffice

Dude, thank you so much, you saved me so much time, was reinstalling ~150gb on a regular basis, this is WAAAY faster. Legend. <3
