"Astarion succeeded a hiding check against (enemy)."
"Astarion lost condition: Hiding."
How else am I supposed to stay hidden other than succeeding at the saving rolls?
If anyone has any ideas I'd be most appreciative.
Instead I have to sort of guess if I'm in the right spot and then click hide and hope the second check works. It's not at all fun when trying to set up sneak attacks, especially as I lose hide when I hit someone ranged automatically and so need to repeat the process again next turn.
It feels very poorly implemented.
In case someone might not know, holding shift allows you to see the vision cones and the exposure outside of stealth, just like when its enabled when already on stealth.
If your trying to stay hidden in a crowded area, potion of invisibility or someone casting invisibility is the way to go.
If you hide in an area with a full pip of light, you will fail your check.
And yes, multiple overlapping sight cones will cause multiple checks and you are very likely to fail at least one of those and that's really all it takes.
With a +10 to +20 in stealth you'll do ok but it's always a gamble if you are spotted.
Also, if you're serious about stealth choose a race that gets advantage to stealth. It's huge.
Rule 1
- If you stand in front of someone, in Bright Light, you will be seen no matter how high your Stealth is
Rule 2
- If an enemy has Darkvision, they treat Dim Light as if it were Bright Light.
80% of the enemies in BG3 have Darkvision. If you try to hide in Bright Light or Dim Light you will be seen. Your only hope is in complete Darkness but even then Darkvision treats this as Dim Light and you'll need to pass a Stealth Check to stay hidden from them.
