Why Soul Coins?
Alright, so in my first playthrough, I collected 14 soul coins, and never found any place to actually spend them. My working theory in EA was that you could use the coins to pay Raphael to assist with your parasite, but that obviously did not turn out to be the case.

I have noticed that even if you have a low charisma, soul coins can be sold for an awful lot of money to shop keepers. But due to how many of them are scattered throughout the game, I'm thinking there must be something more significant they could be used for?

One of your companions is a slot machine.

You can use them as Karlach to literally turn her in flames to deal bonus fire damage.

Karlach can use em

Karlach for 1-4 fire damage till long rest. Essentially useless.

The only purpose they have is to be consumed by Karlach. They give her a buff.

This is actually canon to how infernal war machines function, so I'm surprised I didn't piece that together on my own.

If you use 10 soul coins on her the you get new dialogue with her and she seems to get a new power. She then says a few more coins should giver her even more power. I have given her 13 total but not enough to trigger more dialogue on it.

This. I was hoping they had some other use

She gets a new power? What is it?

You didn't even have to; she tells you that you can give her the coins to feed the thing at some point. I think it was in the dialog after you give the first iron to the blacksmith - otherwise I'd not have known what to do with these things either... ;)

its not useless, but should definitely scale with her level, and give a larger bonus when raging, like being actually fire immune instead of resistant. she essentially can light things on fire by just being near them and gives off light IIRC, not to mention looks cool as hell, just wish they weren't so rare

Shes already the strongest companion by far without it.

Lvl 12 barb. Berserker. At the end of the game she was landing 100+ damage per turn from 3-4 swings averaging 25+ each with 173 hp and enraged with all the resistences and what not.

She didnt leave my party once. Lol

I mostly see them as temptation tools for karlach.
If your not playing as her they are worthless.

If you give her 10 coins she enters dialogue and get's a 10 Turn buff that says:

Running Hot
Avernus' flames crackle within your infernal engine, setting you ablaze.

It give's no stats or abilities. She asks for more coins but I don't think there are enough Coins in-game to hit the next stage.
