As for it not being a BG Game, depend on what does that even mean.
BG1&2 are classic, but that was years ago. Things changes. Engines changes, peoples grow olders and changes.
We can't stay stuck in Nostalgia forever...
BG3 is not a DOS game thought. It feel more like a Mix of both games.
Maybe refrain to say they "abuse" the franchise till after you actually played the full version yourself, not blindly believe the words of salty people.
If after playing the game you have the same opinion, well at least it's yours.
