Warlock vs Wizard
For my starting 4 I am definitely going with a fighter, cleric, then maybe bard and either warlock or wizard.

I have seen posts saying that Warlock is the most fun. What makes a Warlock more fun than a Wizard?

Thanks

Warlocks are more modular in their builds, and do great consistent damage with Eldritch Blast, but are somewhat narrow in their options in battle compared to some other casters. Wizards are pretty straightforward with their builds, but have a ton of modularity and versatility from their spell list. Which is more fun is largely a matter of preference, both are quite good.

Id say wizard . Lock is ok too, but id play it with a bard in team

So bard in team = warlock
No bard = wizard

Warlock is fun for me because one of the best magic tools isn't limited. You don't have to worry about your spells slots eventually running out, and have to halt your gameplay just to take a long rest. Just keep blasting as much as you want.

Warlock can get up close and personal and disappear in a flash, and they also use Charisma for their spells, so it's also good for persuasion checks. You can play defensively, offensively or support if you want. Warlocks can recover their spells with short rest and they do have armor proficiency. Warlock can summon familiars.

Wizard is fun too and you can leverage them to do a lot of damage, and have a much more spells slots. You can learn spells from scrolls too and prepare those spells. Honestly You can try Gale as an origin or get a wizard hireable and see if you like it.

Warlock will pair better with the bard for short rest. I would choose warlock.

Warlock Invocations can be pretty fun, such as the Repelling Blast, or the Beast Speech which gives you free, unlimited castings of Speak With Animals.

Also, if you take Pact of the Blade, you can bind some of the more powerful weapons in the game to you as your pact weapon in order to make them even stronger with later invocations.

Fun is subjective but warlock gets 2 spell slots pper short rest + inovcations. Besides that they are an eldritch blast spammer. Wizard gets full caster spell slots and gets arcane recovery, and they get to pick any 2 per level up and scribe scrolls into their books. Wizards are def the better caster especially given how we are limited to 2 short rests per long and you can spam long rests.

Awesome answers, thanks!

I play a Warlock in Solasta, after leveling up some I get 'mana points' that I can use to play a cantrip after a major spell, or twin a singe hit spell into two. Since both games use 5e is that in this game?

I didn't play solasta, but that sounds like a sorcerer's metamagic system. Definitely not a warlock thing. Maybe you took the Metamagic Adept feat?

I dont know what solasta is, mana points arent a thing in 5e and cantrips are free and unlimited. Twin is a sorcerer thing.

It's a game based on the OGL for 5th edition D&D.

It's pretty railroady, with limited opportunities to grind XP for leveling up; but still a fun game if you're looking for a D&D experience.

Warlocks are nice in that their primary method of attack isn't spells with limited uses, but rather Eldritch Blast - a cantrip you can use as much as you want. It can also be enhanced in various ways, like adding your charisma modifier to the damage it deals, and giving it the ability to shove enemies back up to 4.5 meters. Warlocks only get 2 spell slots, but they refresh on short rest and are always max level, so it's a good idea to pick spells that benefit from upcasting.

Warlocks are great ranged damage dealers and can do a bit of martial fighting if you take pact of the blade. They're just a bit one-note in their play style and lack the versatility of wizards.

I was lead to believe that hitting the same target with multiple EB's causes the effects to stack. Meaning if you use all three beams on the same target, you can send them flying 13.5 meters away.

That sounds like hilarious fun for the whole party!

Ah yes, thank you. Had a memory lapse there it was indeed a sorcerer.
