lvl13 confirmed?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t0uYhTLPGLQ

At 2:00 you can see Astarion cast fireball. So if we assume it is spellcasting from Arcane Trickster. The earliest he have access to lvl3 spell is by lvl13 (dnd rule of 1/3 caster)

Unless we get trolled by Larian Studio in that Astarion was just using scroll... (i don't think spellscroll have level restriction right?)

Alternatively another trolling from Larian Studio:
* Multiclass 1 level of rogue, 5 level of wizard/sorcerer/warlock

Could of just been a scroll xD.

Edit- though the city is supposed to be end game. So it's a toss up.

hope not, lvl13 allow wizard to reach lot of interesting spells...

i wonder how Baldur's Gate 3 implement spell like Contingency, Mordenkainen's Magnificent Mansion (probably they won't implement them?)

There's a pretty good mod on nexus called 5e spells. I'll most likely be running it even with the full release. Just to cover what is left out.

Possibly a scroll, possibly a magical piece of equipment that for some reason gives you a fireball cast, possibly a lvl13. We don't have enough evidence to prove it one way or the other, so best not to make any assumptions till more concrete evidence is present.

This "fireball" more looks like fire bolt that was casted on the flammable surface. You can clearly see grease on the ground where NPCs stand.

Nice catch.

Don't be sad, he might not be actually casting fireball, but he's still flaming.

Simbuls Matrix/sequencer/trigger! I miss those :steamsad: Contingency was the namby pamby 5e, more balanced iteration of those far superior (and unbalanced) spells.

Sigh

I agree. The casting animation looks a lot more like firebolt.

Edit: You can see the firebolt casting animation from Astarion here, at 0:34

Any origin character can be any class.
