Astarion romance screwup (slight spoiler)

sooo i let Astarion bite the drow in the moontower for that sweet permanent +2 strenght potion, waaaay later he decides to talk to me about it in the camp and it seems no matter what i do he ends the relationship right then and there.

Wish i would have known that way sooner, i really dont feel like replaying the last 4+ hours.
let that be a warning for others who attempt a relationship with him

Update: right the night after Astarion ended the relationship , i got to start one with Gale, and now i wonder if there is a Flag system so i couldnt have had Gales event while being in a relationship with Astarion.

dont think its the same as it was with me. when he was angry with me ,he made it very clear that it was about the awful tasting drow he has bitten after i kind of encouraged him to.

Now the game is even more confusing, cause i had a certain event with a dryad where i could test my relationship with a companion and she said Asterions any my "love" is strong,
i think someone did mess up when programming the trigger flags there xD

ah yes... moonrise tower... the flags there are kinda broken... for example, I freed all the prisoners, but when I then decided to check out whats down the hole, there were the dead bodies of all of them, clearly meant for a scenario where you didn't save them in time. And yes, they still all made it to last light in.

If he ends the relationship then and there, it's because you messed up the dialogues.
It's tricky, but if you play your cards well, the relationship pursues.
At some point you can tell him he can "throw your body at me any time", he'll proceed to say he doesn't want you to think of him in terms of sex, then use your mind-bond to show him you care about him.

I found out what happened on my playthrough that ended his romance automatically: In act 2, if you somehow manage to fk up the deal with Raphael to learn about his markings, either by helping Orthon instead of killing him, or killing the ritual justiciar guy that transformed himself into all the rats you see around before interacting with Orthon (which is what I did), Astarion gets super mad at you and even if you do persuasion roll to convince him, it still ends the relationship.

I did the thing with Raphael's side quest to find out about astarions scars and never found the drow in Moonrise. And yet still I get the dialogue that I did something wrong and I made a mistake he says. I feel like it's something wrong in the game and it really sucks cuz I got very high approval with him and he still says I made a mistake I didn't even know I made, just because I accidentally skipped the drow??? Can you still romance him after you get this dialogue?

Update: For anyone still lost, the missing part is if you want the romance to continue YOU HAVE TO find the Drow in Moonrise, and trigger that convo.
Once you trigger this convo, Astarion will EXPLICITELY SAY he doesn't feel comfortable biting the drow {this is important, he's been a slave for decades and wants to make his own choices now} . yes you will lose the chance at the potion but you HAVE TO do it this exact way and not miss it before entering act 2.

Considering what Cazador put him through, he might have some lingering trauma about that!

I also accidentally skipped the drow and I dont wanna reload previous saves now

Yes, I believe it’s a bug in the game. If you become aggressive immediately at moonrise, you never get the drow scene; and he inevitably breaks up with you for a mistake you never made.
Unfortunately at that point, the option to romance him is gone forever.
I had to go back 8 hrs in gameplay to get him back. 😭

I had a different story. In one of my playthroughs in Act 2, I immediately went into the Shar gauntlet and got too carried away (since if you kill Orton before meeting the drow, then a completely different scene will be triggered there) and went straight to the Song of the Night, accordingly the entire 2nd act went in the ass and Moonrise Towers were immediately aggressive towards me. Astarion did not break up with me, there were no aggressive dialogues, but he became asexual and was not against my romance with Halsin, in the dialogue with him there was the line “It’s not because we haven’t had anything for a long time?” and then there was no continuation of the relationship through scenes and dialogues, but at the end of the game we were together.
