All this because you ran into some fight forgetting to check if you're even equipped for it. So instead of take responsibility you blame Larian and the game. Saying it's a terrible choice when it's really only you that has a problem with it. Something people haven't had a problem with for years in early access.
I even gave examples of why you wouldn't want it automatically applied and you conveniently acted as if that was never said.
You guys shouldn't worship them like gods, they made fantastic games and I like BG3 this is one thing I found annoying, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ I feel like I'm explaining to my Cult that no really I don't plan on telling the police.
DM: You finish a long rest.
Player: I do my morning routine, cast mage armor and summon my familiar!
Next day
DM: You finish your long rest
Player: Let's go....
DM: Roll initiative
Player: FFFF I have no mage armor!
Table: Laughs!
Player: I hide behind the barbarian and cast mage armor.....
IT'S 5E RULES NOT MADE UP VIDEO GAME RULES... If It was all made up then yes they could be blamed for not having these mechanics but they use 5e rules as much as they can, and in 5e it's up to the player to cast their spells after a long rest...
To each his own; in our group we each have a list of spells it is implied we spent 1' to tell the DM we recast automatically. It makes everyone not waste time hearing for the 1000th time that the same lot of spell is cast. Because in universe, no mage would forgot when wandering in the wild to have on them. It saves a lot of time we rather spent in more RP scenes.
Because they would be bad fits for a video game.
What are you talking about. We are talking about Pact of the blade not mage armor.
Pre buffing, this is the Buldars gate 1 and 2 experience we are all missing.
Be thankful this is 5e otherwise before every fight you'd be casting about 30 spells on yourself.
